I have been losing every day since the hospital, 20 pounds total, usually about 2-3 pounds a day, but I haven't lost in the past two days. Is it possible to have a plateau this early out?

Dear Julie: OH, YES IT IS POSSIBLE TO HAVE A PLATEAU AFTER ONLY TWO WEEKS!! I know, because it just happened to me, and I, too, thought I had mucked it all up already! I was at -19, and holding steady. I ate/drank exactly as the doctor ordered, but that darned @#$%^ scale wouldn't budge a pound. Luckily, my loving husband consoled me with taking me on lovely walks outdoors and reaffirming that he loved me no matter what, so I determinedly stuck to my guns and FINALLY, the scale started to go down again. But those two weeks wreaked havoc on my sense of contentment, let me tell you! I've only dropped an additional 4.5 lbs, but I know that as long as I try to follow the eating plan and WALK, WALK, WALK, I cannot help but lose weight, albeit S-L-O-W-L-Y. I started out at double my desired weight, so as I have less to lose than a lot of other people, it still is weight that has to come off. I know, it is frustrating to hear about other folks dropping so much weight so quickly, but as you've read a zillion times already at this site, everyone is different and loses at their own rate. Hang in there, and watch out for all the Easter goodies that are appearing at friends and family homes everywhere. God bless and continued success to you, and to us all! Rita

I lose in spurts I have found. I havent lost anything in a week and then in the last 2 days I have lost almost 5lbs. So just go with it. I will keep going. I have found the more exercise I do the more I lose. GO FIRGURE! LaDonna -32

Julie, From what I understand, a plateau is more than four weeks without losing. This isn't a plateau, your body is just catching its breath!

I'm right there with you at 3 weeks out. I lost my 25 lbs pretty steadily, but the last 6 days, my scales have not moved. I'm doing ok with it... just giving me a chance to get some wear out of clothes I haven't put on in 2 years Karla

Karla, You must be my twin. Well, you are my surgery twin. I've lost exactly as you have, 25 pounds came off and then a plateau for the last 6 days. Connie

Karla - a 9th triplet here. You can fit into two year old clothes? I still have odd swelling so my "fattest" clothes are still snug. Soon, soon. Jennifer

Keep in mind that while your weight may not be going down, you are walking and possibly adding muscle, so check the inches. You may see a dip in inches at the times you don't see a weight loss - it's your body redestributing itself. mgm
