Home and Doing Well

I made it home from the hospital on Wednesday. Cried a lot of Thursday. I think it was the pain medicine and I went off it and felt better today. Talked to my roomie is doing well and that made me feel good. I am confused of what to eat and what. What sugar free milk do you use. Can you advice on food from one week post op to one month. Welcom home, Janice, I am glad you are feeling better. It is good to be home amongst your family and friends. On the food thing, I am eating SF jello, beef broth, SF popscicles and protein shakes made with skim milk. My surgeron said to stay on clear liquids for 2 more days then full liquids then soft (about 3 weeks) and regular food about 1 month. Maybe you should talk with your dr. Everyone's diet post op varies, so you should really check with your doctor's office. Does he have a nutritionist? At any rate, they should be able to give you something in writing to use as a guide. I use regular skim milk. If it bothers you you can use low carb or lactaid or silk. The day after coming home was my roughest day. I hope each day gets better from here for you. Welcome home Jan!!! I agree with what has been said, you should be asking your doctor for guidance on the food. My doctor gave me a 6 page document (that outlined everything from my hospital stay to when I get home and all the steps there after) when I went for my pre op so that I could be familiar with it before surgery. I made a copy for Mr Mo so he would know what to expect as well. LOL Hugs, Mo doin' a happier happy Mo dance this a.m.
