? about the hungries.....
Dina, this just shows how different docs are. My doc wants me to eat 6 times a day. I am not 24 days post-op and have not weighed myself in a week. As of 15 days post op I had lost 28 lbs. Are you allowed to have protien drinks for maybe "snacks" those can fill you up.

24 Days into NewPouch and feeling great!
-28 lbs!!!! Yayyyy
A riddle a day will keep the Marchers pounds AWAY!

See, that's the thing, I got very basic instructions, and honestly I didn't think I'd get hungry because all anyone ever said was that they never felt hungry, so I expected to be disinterested and unaffected. Otherwise I would have asked him about the hungries. I don't see why I can't have very low-calorie veggie snacks though. I should probably get my protein in during meals though. I was thinking maybe I would just start counting calories in a strict manner (I'm guestimating right now) and just space it all out and not get in over 500 calories a day. That was the average ingested that I heard from a couple other folks once.

I don't think I've TRULY been hungry post-op. I know sometimes I feel a little rumbly in my tumbly - but I know that's not real because I feel it where my whole, pre-op tummy was (phantom pains.)
I definitely know when I'm too full and that's in my lower chest/breastbone area.
I'm having difficulty adjusting to the whole "My-eyes-are-bigger than-my-stomach" thing. I don't have a real conception of how much I can eat. Different foods take up different space in the stomach so I get fuller from some foods than I do from others. The key is eating very slowly, another difficulty I'm having.

Hey Dina:
Like you, I was told only three meals a day and no snacks. However, there are times when I need something like late afternoon or late night. My lifesaver has been sugar free popsicles, really like a liquid but feel like food going down. Also Blue Bunny healthsmart brand has some sugar free like 60 calorie ice cream bars that are delicious, in either chocolate and choc w/ vanilla or raspberry/vanilla and orange/vanilla. These are wonderful and hold me that is unless I am out because my kids love them also and keep stealing them. Then, I want them to be healthy so can't really complain. Good Luck, Carmella (Mexico surgery bud)
Carmella - good to see you here! I had a fudgesicle once that DH gave me and I don't know if it was freezer tainted or if my tastebuds changed but I didn't like it at all! I had less than half a container of SF/FF yogurt last night which helped a little, but I'm thinking something more solid would help keep the hungries at bay longer.
BTW - how much are you able to eat at one sitting? Is your pouch 4 oz also? Dr. Aguirre said it was supposed to be 4 oz for me, but I've never compared notes with any of his other patients to see what they eat...
