Hi everybody!! I am really glad to have this source of interaction, I would feel so alone if it were otherwise. I had surgery on March 8th and went back into the emergency room on Saturday March 20th because I had a kink in my intestine. Emergency surgery was necessary and well here I am again, feeling helpless, tired, sad and having discomfort. I know it sounds like a pity party, and the truth is, it is. Doc said another three weeks of liquids, I have been doing liquids since the day before surgery!!Which was March 7th!! I really am having a hard time coping, and am becoming irritable. Also there are all these wonderful people that come out and are fine, and here I am again, down, what is going on. Anyway, I am sorry to complain, I just felt alone. God Bless you all! Vanessa

Hey, Vanessa! There's nothing wrong with a short lived pity party, it's just when it goes on for days that you could run into trouble! Now that your intestinal problem has been taken care of, pick yourself up and look forward to a lifetime of health and happiness! My doctor says that a good attitude is the key to healing and I really believe it's true. So have a good cry (what happened to you was rotten!) try your best to get through the next 3 weeks of liquids, and know that you are never alone! Donna

Vanessa, I'm sorry to hear about your troubles but at the same time I'm very glad you posted. I know your problem will be shor lived. That's a good thing. There are a lot of people that have post-surgical problems like yours and more often than not I sense we don't hear much about them. Don't be sorry about complaining. That's one of the reasons support groups exist. Take care and I hope you feel better soon. Caboose

Vanessa, How can we support each other if we don't know what is going on? You have hit an unexpected, rather large bump in the road. Of course you are feeling down about such a setback. You are not alone in this. Carrie Hall on this board had a kink like that too. Sometimes these things just happen. But now you find yourself a week postop (again) rather than the 3 weeks postop you expected. Try to focus past right now to realize that even a month from now this 2 week setback is not going to make any difference. Give yourself permission to feel down. Most of us (at least the female ones) are having some blues during the first month anyway due to hormonal reactions to the surgery and weight loss. I'm sure that is working on you too, but no matter how you feel now, IT WILL GET BETTER! If you can get outside to walk or even open windows to see out, it will help--light therapy does wonders! Mostly, just hang in there and muddle through with the rest of us. I hope that your problems are over once and for all and that your recovery is fast and easy from here on. Joy

Hi Vanessa; I'm glad you posted so that we can be here for you! I understand your blues over the postponement of getting on with things. Just keep in mind how many years you suffered with this and think about how short 3 weeks is in comparison to that! Before you know it your posts will say "getting blue because I have to chew chew chew" Take care and keep looking forward, Cheryl

Thank you everybody that responded everyone was right, I am feeling better this morning, and well I have still lost 25 lbs. I guess I am just scared. And feeling a little isolated. Thank you everybody!! I really miss food, I bet everyone here can relate, I think it's only because the results aren't extraordinary just yet, and well I am still shacked up at home. I am off of pain medicine, because that too plays havoc with my emotions. Another Wonderful Day!! Vanessa

Vanessa, I am so sorry you had to go through this complication. The good thing is it is fixed now... better they found it when they did than later. The other good thing is regardless of this kink it your intestine you have lost 25 lbs!! That is outstanding!!! I know what you mean about being stuck in this house. Just yesterday I was very very emotional and wanted to get out. Now hubby and I are planning a trip to the beach in a couple weeks. (while it isn't too hot) We have a free home we can stay at 2 blocks away so a cheap getaway!! Bethany AKA Da Offishal Riddler and Bertha 24 Days into NewPouch and feeling great! -28 lbs!!!! Yayyyy A riddle a day will keep the Marchers pounds AWAY!

Hi, Vanessa-- I've had couple of setbacks, too -- a kidney infection and some respiratory distress of asthma heading toward pneumonia. Two wild stays in the ER and nasty tests, foul medicine, and, let's just say it, not exactly a picture perfect recovery. I don't know if Joy's refried bean soup is okay for you (basically blend refried beans with Hot and Spicy V8 so that it is liquid, stir in any allowed lowfat cheese stuff (I used some pseudo stuff that is lactose free). Ask your doctor if this is allowed, as it is spicy and will perk you right up. I'm 3 weeks post op and still working on breathing, with more trips to the doctor ahead that may bring more extreme measures (oh do I hope not). I've had to work on being kind to myself that I can't go charging into my recovery. I'm doing the best I can with walking but, when you can't breathe, you can't do all you would otherwise. My recovery will be approximately a month and half longer than I thought. I am so set back from work and it is my company and in grave trouble, so I have to just pu**** aside mentally. What else can we do? I feel confident from reading lots of bios that this will pass. So I'm concentrating on not beating myself up about it ****asionally I lose that battle) and surrounding myself with loving and supportive people (let the other kind use my answering machine). Cheers, you are not alone. Gano
