Hi Everyone! I have my lapriscopic surgery scheduled for Monday. I have just started getting nervous. I have tried to stay busy so that I won't think about it all so much because HEY! it's a whole lot to think about! I tried one of those protein shakes tonight and YUCK! Oh well, I guess I will just have to get use to it. Is it easier just to take chewable protein tablets? I am set with my B12 & Calcium, but the protein is gonna be tough to get in. But I know I have to because I do not want to lose all my hair & teeth! Anyway, I don't have time to drive 45 minutes a night after working all day to go to support group meetings so I am going to ha**** all out with ya'll if that's okay. Give me some feedback & helpful hints please!!!!! Kim 3-29-04 (Which is also my 35th birthday! What a wonderful present to myself right?)

Kim, I too am scheduled to have my surgery on the 29th. I am having an open RNY in Tennessee. My doctor has recommended Carnation Instant Breakfast, no sugar added, which is really not so bad. I've been told we can add a sugar subisute (such as sweet n low or Splenda) and it's really not that bad. I have been so excited, feeling like a kid at Christmas. I really believe this is the right time and the right thing for me. But just yesterday my nerves must have kicked into high gear. I had a melt down and even cried at work. Fortunately I have a private office with a door and was able to work and cry far from the maddening crowd. It passed quickly. It's only 82 hours and a wake up away. Keep us posted on how things go. Hi Kim, I'm having open RNY in Cincinnati on 3/29. Like you I am getting nervous but am still excited! RE: the protein drinks - the nutritionist here recommended Carnation Instant Breakfast (no sugar) and I've heard from lots of others that it's not so bad. I'm taking my granddaughters to see ANNIE on Saturday night to celebrate, then plan to spend a quiet Sunday getting prepped (all that prepping!!) for Monday's surgery. Perhaps the 3 of us can offer support to one another as we recouperate? Donna
