question for Post ops
Has anyone felt as after their surgery that they really didn't have the surgery at all? I have not been sick or had any effects from the surgery or anything . The only thing that has happened is my blood sugar has gone down to 67. Please let me know if I am the only one who feels this way. Thank you all. Oh one more thing I have no problem sleeping in my bed am I normal? LOL Sarah T
I slept in my bed from night one too...and I even bought a recliner...remember? But the recliner is sure nice for during the day, resting and watching TV and stuff....I have moments when nothing hurts and makes me feel like nothing happened, but all I have to do is push on my mid section to remind me...lol But after conquering my diarrhea in the beginning, I have not felt nauseaus or sick one time either. I am glad you are having an easy time.
Sarah - you aren't alone in thinking that nothing was really done to you! See my post from yesterday titled "Blah, Blah, Blah". It's actually pretty comical when you get down the thread where I'm convinced that I'm a human placebo and am willing to down a Chili's hamburger to prove that nothing was done to me. I guess we're lucky??? I've wanted to test my pouch, but haven't had the guts (excuse the pun!). So far for dinner tonight, I've had Taco Bell Pintos N Cheese and now I'm actually snacking (yes, snacking) on some green beans (non-pureed). I'm chew, chew, chewing. I was still hungry after the refried beans, so I thought I'd get a green veggie in. Meat still feels like a rock in my stomach after a few bites, so I'm staying away from that for a couple of days.
Also - I slept in my bed from the first night home, too. No problems. I've even started sleeping on my belly. I have an 8" incision down my middle and have had no problems with it yet! Knock on wood!
Hang in there!

I also have felt the same way. I asked my husband how much he paid the Dr to put six little holes in me so that I would think that I had the surgery. No problems yet. Slept in bed since the first night and have been getting in 50 -60 grams of protein a day. The protein comes fron yogurt, cottage cheese and peanut butter. That does include 1 -2 shakes. Also have starting walking a mile a day. Only actually did it on Mon and Tues. Will start again very soon.
Hi Sarah, have felt the same way. I think we are among the lucky ones that haven't had any problems. I am still waiting for something to happen. It's too good to be true.
I sleep really well too. Every once in a while I do something stupid and my stomach will remind me that I did have the surgery.
Lots of good wishes.

Hey Sarah:
I am not having any problems with my new pouch although I am still on liquids. The only way I know I had surgery is the incision and the G tube that I have.
I am up to drinking 60 oz of liquids with no problem. My sister gave me ice tea today to drink and I thought it had splenda in it. Later she told me it was regular sweet tea and my body accepted it with no problems.

Hi Sarah;
I feel exactly like you do. I haven't tried sugar though so I don't know what, if anything, it would do to me. Some days I think that my doctor just cut me in the middle as an experiment to see if people who "think" they've had the surgery also lose weight. I'm not sleeping very soundly yet because the incision still hurts, but I'm staying in bed all night now. It'll be better when I can finally sleep on my stomach.
It seems that there's a number of us on this board who feel like this. All I can say is that dumping sounds like no fun and I don't care if I never do it!

Heya, Sarah!
I've been sleeping in bed since my 2nd day home: slept on my side that night, and on my stomach the next night, and have had some of the BEST sleep I've had in years!! I do put a pillow under my stomach and sort of 'hug' it with my leg/arm while I'm sleeping, but it feels so good to sleep normally now!
Nope...beyond a doubt I KNOW I had this surgery...and would do it again in a heartbeat if need be. I've had worse problems having teeth pulled. In fact, a co-worker called yesterday and we were talking, and she's considering WLS, and I told her "GO FOR IT!!" She was so shocked at my immediate good-health that she's calling today to get in for her first consult.
I'd recommend this to ANYONE after my miraculous experience with it!
So glad you're doing well...so glad we're ALL doing well!

Same here, Sarah.
I don't know why I imagined that I would feel completely different, but I did! That's why it's been difficult for me to remember all the rules like chewing well and eating slowly. I feel normal except when I try to eat and then I remember my body's wired differently now.
