Thanks for your kind words
Last night after I posted I was wiped out. My 22 year old daughter, who lives with me, is bulimic and anorexic and has been on a terror for the last month. Then I got that e-mail from my surgeon. Well, after posting, I just went to bed.
I've been super busy at work today and haven't had much time but wanted to thank you all for your kind words and prayers to me on my post last night.
I'm raising hell with the surgeon's office to see if they can rustle up what they need for lap. If not, I've already questioned the surgeon about suturing (like Joy) or glueing (like Sally) as opposed to stapling me shut. I got a reply e-mail from him saying he'll discuss that with me Wednesday morning before my case.
I'm a bit pissed off about the whole thing but I'm not the type of person to hold on to anger. Me being upset only hurts me.

Anyway, I do appreciate all your kind posts. The bottom line is that the surgery is still on for 3/31 and that's a good thing.

Still on is what counts. A month from now, you won't care whether you had lap or open. As long as you trust your doctor's abilities, just go for it!
Sorry your daughter is pushing you to the edge. I pray you can go into surgery in peace, knowing that whatever happens with her, it is not your responsibility until you are able to deal with it again. This is for you, and it will make you better able to be there for others down the road, but for now, just enjoy doing something for yourself!

Hey, I have my spectacularly profound days, then again, I have my days where two words put together are the best I can do and spelling the word "and" doesn't look right...I personally think it's a sign of insanity.
That shrink who did my psych eval should have his license ripped for certifiying me as "alright" (notice I didn't say "normal" here...
).
I also have those "Nothing Is Good" days. I usually warn my co-workers to stay away. Far away. They never question it.
Things will perk. Hopefully your Doc will realize he owes ya BIG and can, um, well...'bump' someone and get ya in early. (Does hoping he'll do that for you make me a bad person?
)
Hasta la!

Rob -
Sorry to hear about your difficulties getting the lap. I wasn't on the boards last night or most of today, so I'm just now catching up on your situation. Sometimes things just happen for a reason, so this may end up to be a good thing. I personally think that scars give a person character (and, on men, they're sexy!). I now have an 8" character on my belly. I haven't had any problem with my incision. I'm stitched and get them out on Monday at my first pre-op appt. Now if I, Wendy-the-Whiner, can handle an 8" incision and have to difficulties, I know you'll do fine. However - I know that it's quite a blow to have your plans changed up at the last minute.
I'm here for you if you need to vent. I'll even offer you cheese with your whine.
Hang in there and we're counting on you to bring up the rear (hmmmm - that can be taken all kinds of ways!!!).
I'll be saying a prayer for you and your daughter. I have a niece that suffers from eating disorders - it's no walk in the park. I'm here if you need anything!

Oh Caboose,
So sorry to hear about the problem with going lap. I guess open wouldn't be sooo bad. I had an open lower abdomen surgery once and It wasn't terrible....just a little bit longer before I went back to work. I'm glad you're still going for surgery on the 31st. Either way you're still a Marcher, always will be. We love you, man. Keep rolling with the punches.

You deserve a blessed out come. Sarah T
