Another week on fluids only.

Just saw my surgeon and he wants me to stay on liquids only for about another week because I am having a hard time with my CIB. Every time I take a sip (even my first) I get really gassy (burping) and really bloated. So he thinks that my pouch needs a little more time to heal before I go on to soft foods. Oh and he wants me to try the lactaid milk and see if that makes a difference. So another week of liquids, I'm kind of sad because I am just so sick of the No sugar added CIB. On top of that I only lost 2 pounds this week. I know its because of the time of month but it depresses me... Anyway, I just wanted to get this out. It's been a miserable week for me. Kelley

Kelley - sorry to hear you are having to do the liquids still. I'm not sure what CIB means though - my brain isn't fullly engaged yet today. I hope that resolves quickly for you. I can't imagine being on liquids so long... Dina -16 until I weigh today

CIB-Carnation Instant Breakfast. I have to have the No sugar added ones, and I was so dumb not to order the variety pack from the company. I've been drinking the chocolate and french Vanilla every single day. So BORING!!!

Hi Kelley! I just got back from my first checkup appt. at my surgeon also and was told I have to continue on liquids only for another week also! I was so looking forward to tuna fish, eggs - even cottage cheese sounds like a gourmet meal at this point. Just when I thought I couldn't take one more CIB, the case of SF CIB variety packs arrived so now at least I have strawberry and chocolate malt flavors to go with the french vanilla and milk chocolate flavors that I have been drinking and drinking, etc... I mix mine with skim plus milk (usually heated in the microwave) and each 8oz mixture is 16 grams of protein. I guess I'll just have to be happy for any variety at this point and next week at this time hopefully I'll be enjoying some tuna!! In case anyone else wants to order the CIB SF variety packs you can order them at this site: www.careexpress.com Debi F

(((Kelly))) I am sorry about those liquids. I know you are tired of them. I was on clear liquids when I was just in the hospital and that was for only 6 days and I thought I was going nuts. I can only imagine. You will be in my prayers Bethany AKA Da Offishal Riddler and Bertha 23 Days into NewPouch and feeling great! -28 lbs!!!! Yayyyy A riddle a day will keep the Marchers pounds AWAY!

My guess is the lactaid will solve the problem and you will be on your way! Sorry it is rough for you now. This will pass though! Joy

I am on liquids but not CIB. Getting tired, trying to think of some variety to my diet. I hope next Tues changes things. No problems so far.

Kelley, Hunney!! I'm sorry...I really AM sorry...that you're gonna be on liquid stuff longer. I know ya want to take that 'giant step' and go on to other 'food'. BUT -- your doctor sounds VERY wise. Please stick to it for now, 'kay? He's got your best interest in mind, and if ya jump the gun, ya may just get stuck on liquid stuff for a LONGER time. Just be patient for now...just don't think 'bout it if possible. I went to pureed today, and I'm gonna tell ya, I didn't like how it felt in my pouch. It was fine, but it was just such a different feeling. I didn't think I'd feel this way, thought "oh, it'll be heavenly to have some REAL foodstuff for a change". Nah, I'm gonna take it a baby-step at a time. It IS more variety open to me, and I think that made a MENTAL difference. But I'm gonna try a cross between puree/runny stuff (essentially a very runny pureed stuff...) and see if it feels better 'cuz it was such a different feeling. Oddest part is that I don't recall "feeling" stuff in my stomach pre-op: just recall the burning, reflux, indigestion, etc, as a RESULT, but never actually felt THE FOOD in my stomach. Hang in there, my buddy. This part will pass, and you'll be snarfin' down crunchy stuff soon IF you take it easy now. You'll get there. Call me if ya need a live human on the other end of the phone: I'll listen. Love you! Kimmer Queen of the Niners, Instigator to All Marchers, High Priestess of Giggles

Kelly honey, I'm so sorry you're having some problems. Remember, it's only temporary and it won't be long before you'll have more variety in your diet. I know it's hard, but hang in there hon. I've been in a bit of a funk lately too. I'm hoping by the weekend I'll start feeling better. I'm hoping the same for you. (((Karen L.)))
