First Lunch Out With Friends
I'm still off work, but co-workers called and wanted me to meet them for lunch yesterday. We went to one of the better restaurants in town, but they have a reasonable lunch menu. This is one of those places that has a dozen people hovering around the table and they wisk dishes away as soon as you put your fork back down on the plate.
I ordered the tuna sandwich without bread and they brought three scoops of tuna lined up very nicely with garnish and made it just as pretty as they could. I ate about 1/2 of one of the scoops and asked the waiter for a box. He said he'd box it up for me when I was done eating. I told him I was and he could take it. He just smiled and said, "I'll be back later." OK, fine. I asked the bus boy for a box and he said, "We'll box it up for you when you're done eating." Arrrgggghh! The manager came by and asked if there was something wrong with my food. Did I want something else? A box! I just want a box!
I guess until I get thin enough to look like I should be eating like a bird, I'll have to go through this.

That is soooo funny! I am dreading trying a restaurant with anyone but my hunny the first time. He is on a diet similar to ours ...thank goodnes we are so compatible in that way...cause he had a lot of intestines removed due to disease about 30 years ago, has to have the B12 shot every month and stuff too...
So we thought we would probably always order 1 meal and 1 appetizer like shrimp ****tail or something and just share....he will probably fini**** off, as he can eat a lot....no restriction on him, just choices.
But I am dreading being with my grandchildren in a MacDonald's with the french fry smell....before surgery I had a 1/4 pounder with cheese whenever I could because I knew they would be no nos.
Sally,
I've steered far, far away from McDonald's. Not easy since that's where I buy my ice. My ice maker gave out months ago and I found that the McDonald's a couple of blocks from my house sells ice for 69 cents a bag. I stocked up my extra freezer before surgery so I wouldn't have to go there and smell french fries for a long time.

Joy,
My surgeon also gave me a card asking that I be allowed to order smaller portions or off of the children's menu. Children's menus are Carb Central. Holy cow! No wonder we have a nation of overweight children. So far, I've just ordered things a la carte and taken the left overs home. Eating out has become far cheaper than it used to be.

You can actually make a restuarant card yourself at OH.com... here's the link, take it to your surgeon and have it signed... there are some really cute ones too...
