Made It and Feeling Great excep****er Gain
Hi everyone. Had my open RNY on 3-18, 1 week ago today. Been on liquids only for 8 days. Still holding a lot of fluid from the IV's in the hospital. Went home the 3rd day--weighed and found I'd gained 15 # as of 3 days post-surgery. Today is day 8 and I have finally lost 7 lbs (of the gained 15--yikes)! I know it will come off but when I read of others losing 5-10 or more in week #1 it can be a bit discouraging. I am doing great with attitude, walking and enjoying my time home. What are these smoothie makers? Where do u get them?
Anyone else with a post-surgury gain? Also do u consider your lost LBS from your initial doc visit, from your pre-op physical or from your hospital weigh-in? Just trying to get a gauge. Love u all and thanks for your support..Terry
I had an initial gain of a 2 lbs due to fluids and swelling, but by the end of week one it had fully reversed and overall I had lost. I'm not considering what I see in the doctor's office. I'm a bit AR, and like to see actuals without the clothing factor. I weighed myself the night before surgery, and I am now weighing myslef (too often) every few nights. I need to stop doing that though. I want to be charting weight changes 2x per week.

Terry, you are definently not the only one with water gain. I had like 8 lbs of it. It was discouraging to see but when I went back 9 days post op for weigh in it was gone. Yours will come off before you know it!!!
