2 Weeks post op...
HI.. my name is Sharon and I had an Open Rny on March 10th with Dr. Juarez in Phoenix, AZ... He is an excellent surgeon and my surgery went very well, even though I had a number of complications he was concerned about.... I also had my gall bladder out and and hiatial hernia repair... so it was a triple whammy.... At 2 weeks out I am starting to feel human and the tenderness is improving each day... Like many of you I am in that struggle phase of the Full Liquid diet.... I am looking forward with much anticipation to the first thing that goes crunch..besides ICE...that first cracker is going to be a big event.... in another week I will be able to add things like eggs and cottage cheese... yum yum... I am in the need of more variety.... I am not hungry... nor do I feel full when I eat... the only problem I have is with water... it hits bottom like a lead ball.... so I drink other liquids like Propel Spor****er, I have lost 18 pounds in the first 14 days and am told that is about average... I have health problems that makes walking difficult so I am not doing much in the way of exercise yet.... that will come in another couple of weeks I hope.... I live alone and just felt the need to communicate with some of you out there going through the same thing... I look forward to hearing how the rest of you are doing..... Good Luck to you all.... what ever stage you are in..... this is a long journey and I have just begun...

I live alone, too, Sharon, and I've just "graduated" to pureed/blenderized stage. This is where WLS folks with families/spouses have a bit of an advantage over us IMHO: they can just take a bit from the meals they cook for their families and blenderize/puree it. A "meal" would sprout feet, jump out of the refrigerator, and run away faster than I could eat it, being single. But I'm accustomed to this even pre-op, and this, too, shall pass... I'm fine with it, it's just another stage 'til I get to the "REAL" food eventually.
Hang in there...
