Hi everyone, Im so glad I found this part of the site. What a lot of information! I found the site before surgery but spent most of my time looking at the before/after photos. My mom had WLS in October, and mine was 2 weeks ago today (March 10-surgery date). I had my surgery at Kaiser Permanente in southern California, and am pretty happy so far. I got lost in the shuffle with dieticians and case workers though and didn't get enough info about diet for right after the surgery. It seems that everyone and their brother has their own idea on what to eat, what not to eat, and when. So far Im good with protien drinks, soups, jello, and Propel fitness water. I added applesauce yesterday and a little bit of mashed potatoes today. For those sick of protien drinks, you might want to try this... I have the Designer Whey chocolate and Ive been blending it with the orange or strawberry Propel fitness water. Its good for a change, and Im sure the brands don't matter. I never thought I'd like flavored water, but it sure takes the monotony out of the past week or so. Does anyone know of any support groups in the Long Beach area? Im not having any problems yet, but I know that support will be key in the upcomming months. Thanks for reading! -Donna *Ive still got half my staples in and wont see the do****il April 9th. Is that a long time to wait to see the doc? I am getting the rest of the staples out this Friday.

Glad that you found us and congrats on being a loser. I just got my staples out on Monday and had my surgery the day before yours. I will see my PCP again in 3 weeks so I'm not sure about how soon you should see your doctor. Glad that you are doing ok and hope that you get more help with the nutritional side. ~Nicole

Welcome to the Marchers Donna! You have found a wonderful family here with the Marchers and we are glad to bring you into the fold also. I had my surgery a day after yours! I can't help you much with the support group question for a local one since I'm in Kansas but know that you have us for support also. Call your Dr.'s office to see about support groups. They may have a list of some in your area or may even offer them through the office. This is a great support group here but having local people to get out and do things with is incredibly important too. Good luck finding a local support group! You are in my prayers! God Bless!!! Donna - I had my open rny the same day as you! I get the rest of my staples out on Monday and I can't WAIT. I hate these little claws in my skin...so irritating. I have been on solids for awhile now (soft solids) and oddly enough can't hack the protein drinks. They make me sick. I have some other protein drinks coming though and they are gelatin based so they are fruity and refreshing in cold water. I love those! I do like propel, but I've been drinking diet Snapple Iced tea and Crystal Light more. I love the black cherry but can't find it right now. I did do one thing that was way yummy with a Vanilla Atkins shake and that was to blend in some Crystal Light Sunrise Classic Orange mix and it was just like a creamsicle. Yum. But, of course, I drank it too quick and got sick and am afraid to have it again! Welcome to the board - I hope you stick around! Dina -16
