2-week check-up!
JUST got back from my 2-week check-up with Dr. Wonderful and Nutritionist. A-OK doesn't even cover it, "exceptional" was the word used!! Except for two minor glitches, I'm SAILING!!!
First glitch: Dina, you were right...probably nerve damage or a nerve "spasm" causing my icey thumb. Dr. said it'll probably resolve, and/or it may just be a temporary circulation problem. I said "Hey, hold my thumb" and he laughed...but yup, something happened there, and it was probably from the arterial line. We'll wait and see what it was/if it resolves itself.
Second glitch: I did something to my main incision deep-flesh, and I did it as I was JUST about to get out of bed this morning (nothing like creating a fresh problem only 2 hours before a visit with the Doc, eh?). I was sleeping on my stomach and was going to prop myself up to turn to look at my clock, and when I got up on my hands, I felt SEARING pain. Knocked the breath out of me. I apparently 'forgot' that I'm still only 2 weeks post-op and twisted incorrectly. He's not too concerned about it, said it could be a pulled muscle on the entry path, but to jus****ch it for thrombosis, etc. It's pretty darned sore even now...what did I do? Cheez...
Anyway, incisions look like they've been there for years, everything else is GREAT! I'm more tired than I was last week, but Dr. said that's normal. Nutritionist went over all my food logs and was thrilled that I'm keeping HIGH on protein and fluid intake (only 'missed' ONE day with 37 g. of protein, and she said not to worry 'bout ONE day in a two-week span). So I've now graduated to blenderized food! YIPPEE!! REAL FOOD (sort of).
Anyway, just thot I'd give the happy news...

OH - BTW...the bonus is that I'm also down 20 pounds. Kewl!

T'anx, Nicole. The weight loss is a "bonus" 'cuz not only have ~I~ been told by both surgeons, but Dr. Wonderful also warned Queen Mum while I was in PAR that I won't lose as much or as quickly as everyone else, and to make sure we ALL knew that so that none of us will be disappointed. Heck, disappointed? Doubt it! 20 pounds is one-quarter of the way to my 'goal' already, and THAT'S if I 'go radical' and try to go for a VERY light weight for my stature. So I'm LAUGHING OUT LOUD that only 2 weeks down the road I've already moved ahead 1/4 of the trip!

Kimmer - bummer news on the nerves, but sounds promising that it will resolve. I hope that is the case for you!
Great job on the weight loss, but I am concerned over whatever you pulled or tore! That just sounds scarey! But you know, when I was just a few days out I was laying in bed and felt my stomach growl and then it felt like it just FLOPPED over. It was really a weird feeling. Okay - this will be weird, but if you remember doing this as a kid, it's very much like how it felt: Didja ever turn your eyelid inside out as a kid and then have it flop down into place? That's very much like how it felt in my stomach. Anyway, it was fine, but just weird.
Keep us updated on how you are doing though!
