Wimmen - Yeast infections?

I *think* what I have is a raging yeast infection, but I've never really had one before....I think. Has anyone else gotten one right after surgery? I know they gave me rocephin, an antibiotic, after surgery, but I've never had an antibiotic do that to me before. Suffice it to say I'm QUITE uncomfortable, and to top it off, having my monthly visitor makes it hard to even think of making an appointment to go see the doctor for it. Anyone else? Hi Dina, Sorry to hear about the yeast infection, miserable things, that they are. I get it everytime I use an antibiotic, thankfully I have had no antibiotic for this surgery. When I do get a yeast infection, I just go and buy a Monostate(sp) 1 dose treatment. Maybe that would help you until you feel confortable making a doctors appointment. Hope that helps hun. Miserable itching drives me Betty

You might want to follow the medication with some acidophilus tablets. Buy the ones that are refrigerated. There is also acidophilus in yogurt. This will replace the friendly guys in your gut to keep yeast from taking over there too. Joy

Save yourself alot of heartache and just go to the doctor!! Get some Terzol cream and some Nystantin cream. Terzol is for the inside and Nystantin is for the outside. There is nothing worse than having your period with a yeast infection...ughhhh...talk about double trouble!!

Hi Dina, Suffice it to say I'm RIGHT where you are. Call your doctor's office and have them call in *Diflucan* for you. It's one easy pill that will knock out the yeasties in about three days. The only good thing about yeast infections is that once you take medicine, things get better really quickly. Most doctors will not need to see you to call this pill in. Try your PCP first. Eve

I usually get one after antibiotics too...so far so good. This is a bit graphic, Dina, but a yeast infection, on close exam looks la bit like cottage cheese....it is easily managed with over the counter preparations, but call the doctor first.
