Thought I'd share and maybe you all could share so we can get some variety. I have proven to have a good lil pouch though, so I'm handling some things maybe others aren't...keep that in mind. Last 2 nights I had pureed chicken curry over rice. Boy was that heavenly. I just used my hand blender to puree it. Yum! I have had chicken vienna sausages on several occasions in different ways and it sets well. I have them with Wheat thins usually. Cream of wheat/bananas Eggs/grits and Morningstar Farms Stripples vegetarian bacon. These are great tasting and a good source of protein. Nice to have for breakfast since I can't have the real thing ( for me that being turkey bacon) right now. These taste almost like bacon crackers. Quite yummy! Boiled eggs and egg salad on Wheat thins - although the egg salad didn't set so well. Cheese on wheat thins (getting a visual on my wheat thin usage lately? ) Underwood chicken spread on - yup - you guessed it....Wheat Thins That's all I can think of for now. Feel free to share your ideas. I think I'm in a wheat thin rut!

Dina, My pouch is turning out to be a trooper also. I've had no problems so far. My doctor is a stickler for nothing but protein for the next 30 days so I'm not allowed rice, Cream of Wheat or bananas. I'm not allowed the crackers either, but I do have 5 with reduced fat peanut butter. That's my big sin. My staples have been: egg omelet with cheddar cheese a slice of deli turkey with a slice of cheese sauteed scallops with lemon and garlic shrimp with lemon, garlic, butter and parmesan cheese Turkey from Boston Market Refried beans with cheese Yogurt Great idea to post foods. I'm looking for new ideas. Connie

Thanks for the ideas Dina, I'll be on pureed foods right out of the hospital so it gives me a good idea of what I can eat. Talked to Virginia today and she asked about you. Wanted to know if you were back in the states. Go figure, she's sick in the hospital (hopefully getting out today) and she's worried about our girls here. That just shows the kind of gal she is. Sounds great and I will definitely use some of these ideas! I'm coming along much slower, but, hey, I'll get there. Only correction is that my doc tells us to avoid rice, even mashed up. It can expand in the pouch and cause a blockage. Gano

Wow, I can't believe you guys are able to eat the way you are already! I am so envious! My doctor has me on total liquids for the 1st 2 weeks, and then if I'm lucky I get to move on to pureed foods, only proteins, for the next 2-3 weeks. I can't tell you what I'd give for a scrambled egg right now! I see doc on Wednesday. Wish me luck! Maureen

Well, THAT was fun! (As I sit here and snarf down watery cream of wheat...but hey, it's got 12 g. of protein! ::whoppee:: ) I'm still on runny stuff 'til at least Wednesday. I'm staring adoringly at the jars of baby food I have for when I get to proudly graduate to my "pureed" stage ('cuz it's just too silly for me, who lives alone, to 'make' anything to puree...the left-overs would be walking away on their own power before I'd get to 'em ). Hmm...wonder if I get some sort of Certificate of Achievement I can frame and throw in with all the rest of my certs/awards from school and work and such... Lemme tell ya, I'm REALLY looking forward to something I can CHEW, but in the meantime, I view my Flintstones and Calcium Chewables as a treat...they actually crunch, unlike the REST of my diet right now! Nah, I'm fine where I'm at, I'm a very patient and self-disciplined person. I'm following my Dr's orders TO A 'T'...barbaric creep. Kimmer - you're not the only one who looks at the calcium chews as a huge treat! As for the pureed foods, I just use the hand blender which is WONDERFUL for making mush of that chicken curry. I have to say that was such a treat, I'm going to have to freeze some so I can have more later. (It's easy if anyone wants directions/recipe). Baby food is yuck as far as the meats go though. I'd much rather use the hand blender. It's quick and cleans up easy....and your food tastes like FOOD!!! Dina

I'm on protein's only - until tomorrow - YAY!! Then I get to add mushed fruits and vegies. I'm having a dinner of tunafish with LF mayo and hearing about those wheat thins made me really want one. IDI Bitty has been a real trooper though. No conplaints to eggs, cottage cheese, yogurt, chicken, tuna, and my absolute favorite thing these past few days: One Whole String Cheese --- ooooh was it to die for it tasted so good, and it's 8 g protein and only 1 ounce. Tomorrow I can't wait to try a banana in cream of wheat for breakfast, or some carrots with fresh flounder for dinner. mgm & IDI Bitty - born 1 week ago
