Wound drainage??? HELP!!!

I had my open rny 11 days ago and have had no drainage. Today I take a nap and get up and have soaked through my surgical pads, my binder and my underwear in one spot. It was not stinky (I remember my friend's c-section that burst that was infected/said it was stinky). It looks like regular drainage - like mostly clear fluid with some blood tinged to it. I cannot for the life of me see where exactly it's coming from except that there is a spot central to it that it has to be coming from. The incision hasn't opened up and I'm thinking the discharge is coming through the staples. I have heard other people briefly mention they had discharge for awhile, but since I have had none, this is slightly alarming to me. Anyone care to share experiences? Any advice??? Dina

I would wash the incision thoroughly with antibacterial soap and leave it open to the air--no dressing, no binder. It should dry up and form a scab. If it does not look better in the morning, go let your pcp look at it. Joy

I was told not to worry if there was a little drainage. I am putting my meds through mine. Glad I am, they taste awful.

You are talking about the incision, not a drain tube, right? Joy

Oh yes - not my drain. That was taken out last week. It's my incision that is draining. But it looks like it is a seroma from what I've learned and it sounds like it's normal. I'll still follow up later though.... Thanks for all the replies folks! Dina

have you just recently started sleeping on the stomach? Maybe just the new pressure forced some "standing water" out a little hole...Oh what do I know?

ADVICE: Call your surgeon. That's why we pay 'em the big bucks... I can't really help ya, toots...no personal experience, and am not a medical professional. Call the surgeon and ask whutitiz and whuttodo. Sorry! Kimmer Queen of the Niners, Instigator to All Marchers, High Priestess of Giggles

As long as it is not stinky, and you are not running a fever I have been told it is normal and it happens I didn't leak for a full week and then wham now I am leaking like crazy it has been a week and half. Wa**** even le****er run on it in the shower. Keep it as dry as possible. It is gross and annoying.
