My daughter is experiencing the heebie-jeebies today. Surgery was on Tues. She is taking meperdine and ibprophen but hasn't had anything since noon. She feels like she has to run and has to get up every 2 minutes or so. Any one had this????

It may be a reaction to the medication. If she still feels that way in the morning, I'd probably check in with the doc. I had a hard time being still for long until I got all the meds out of my system. For some of us that takes longer than for others. Joy

My surgery was the same day and I am still antsy....can't sleep or lay still for more than 2-3 hours....it is a very strange time when we have to wean off of all the goodies the hospital kept filling us up on and getting back to normal. I am glad she can take ibuprofen because I just got permission myself today...tylenol made me dump big time.

My surgeon says absolutely no ibprophen only tylenol if I need it.

I had an injury that I mentioned here on another thread, just a pulled muscle in my side post-op, and I called the hospital and they told me to take ibuprofen. I told them I'd read that gastric bypass patients weren't supposed to take ibuprofen anymore and the doctor told me that that was really just pre-surgery. She said it was perfectly safe for bringing down the inflammation, which it did. I am going to follow up with my surgeon this Wednesday and I'll bring the issue up again, but I was not actually told by my doctor or his staff not to take these medications. They were just something I read about in the Barbara Thompson book. I was just recently talking to a friend of mine about all these differences in pre- and post-op care. It's weird! I mean, is it medical science, or isn't it? Eve

Some medications give people Free Floating Anxiety. It might be making her panicky. She might want to switch to a different pain med to avoid those feelings.

I would sugges****ER and tons of it to flush out the stuff they pump into you for surgery.... Also... I'd call the Dr as well.. I have heard the same thing about anything from the aspirin or nsaid families... sounds like this is a reaction to something and the Dr maybe able to help... It's amazing how many different people are told different things by their respective Dr's isn't it?? Just my opinion.... Kathy
