Post-op needs???
The item I found most helpful - a comode without the pail to fit over the toilet seat. My toilet upstairs has nothing that is easy for me to grab on to for getting up or down. Having this has really helped me be a little more independent. For my downstairs bathroom, the door handle is there, and my mom put her cane in there to help me get up. The comodes can be rented from a pharmacy that deals with surgical supplies. Ours is $20 for the month, and worth every penny, even if I only use it for a week!!
The other item is some comfy chair or recliner for sleeping. I actually din't like my recliner when I first got home. While it was real comfy to get in and to lay back, it was extremely difficult to get out of. At night, I opted for my upstairs oversized chair with ottoman, and put a towel in the crook of the chair so I was at a slight slant. Worked very well, and I could get up to use the bathroom or just to walk in the middle of the night, without needing to wake my mom for assistance.

I made some SF pudding with extra protein in it and poured it into 2 oz portions. That was nice to come home to! I had some SF tang and SF crystal lite on hand too, and SF popcicles. Depending on your doctors diet plan, you may want to move to cottage cheese and yogurt pretty quickly. (Blue bunny "85" yogurt is sweetened with splenda).
They will still have stores open, so don't panic!
