Curious....
I'm right with ya! I worked graves for almost three years straight. Then, my supervisor decided I was "hiding" (which was absurd) and forced me onto a day shift. She's the craziest, nastiest micro-manageriest person I've ever met and more people have quit that dept because of her. I quit because of her. I admit it. If I had been allowed to continue on graves, I'd still be there. Never made a mistake other than the minor fixable ones from time to time. And my officers loved me for my entry, processing, history and hit speed too. I was awesome at weeding through aliases to pick up out of state histories that would otherwise go unnoticed.
Yeah I miss it alot. But I wouldn't work for her again for 100k a year. She's a NUT!
I haven't been strict about it since about June of 2004. Maybe it's a problem... I'm not sure. I went to a lecture by Dr. Simpson who does chats and stuff on here. He's a pretty big cheese in wls circles in these parts. He thought that the no drinking before, during and after was a bunch of bunk. That was just the encouragement I needed to start drinking with my meals again. I had felt like I was choking on sand with eating my food dry and hated it. I think I may be part raccoon. I often wonder though if I would stay full longer if I didn't drink. I'm usually hungry about 4 hours after eating and think that's probably pretty normal. Who knows.

No, I think you're right Connie. My own surgeon told me to go ahead and drink with meals but only a little bit. I think the reasoning for that is so that you don't overfill your pouch inadvertantly and throw up. I wasn't sure, so I thought I'd ask
I too really really struggle with eating food without drink. It's just too damn hard to wa**** down!
THANK YOU for posting this Connie. It's refreshing to hear something from a surgeon who has a little common sense mixed in there. I know what the ideal is, but living in the real world, I think we should be more intune with navigating real life situations. I don't know how many people I've heard say they feel like their food is too dry and that it gets stuck. Stands to reason that a little sip of liquid would fix the problem.
Boy am I glad to hear I'm not the only one who is a rogue!!!

I have a very bad habit of late of drinking with & after
eating. I am trying to break that habit. I am sure that is
part of the reason I seem to eat more these days. I also
have managed a bad grazing problem. Have been really
working on getting back to the no snacking rule. Its hard,
but trying. Have to get this weight going in the right direction again. I aslo drink way too much coffee. I drink
the half/half caffiene but I still have too much caffiene in
my system. I don't drink any soda have not done that in
over 2 years. BUt I do drink the coffee. so I am not sure
which is worse.

Coffee's not bad for you. My nut told me up to three cups a day is perfectly acceptable. Also, coffee has more antioxidants than tea and many veggies, so drink up!!!
I'm not sure how you snack, but if you're hungry, I think you should! Sometimes I go through "boredom eating" and that's counterproductive, but if you're eating to satisfy hunger, then you should definitely eat!!!
You're probably not as "bad" as you think!!!

I'm a habitual person, which means I do well with structure, I suppose. Since surgery, I have tried to alter my behaviors to achieve the best results and that includes fluid intake. As my weekdays are much more structured around my job, I am more successful in getting 70 oz. of water in a day, Monday through Friday - I just bring a 70 oz. jug of water with me to work and drink it throughout the day. It's more difficult for me during the weekends, but I try to stay conscious of my fluid intake. I don't drink during meals and I haven't had soda or anything carbonated since surgery. I do believe staying vigilent and aware of fluid intake has helped me to sustain my weight loss...so far, anyway. Hope this helps. Maureen
