G-tube is out!!!!!

My surgery was on March 1st and they took my g-tube out today. I feel so much better. I was even able to take a nap on my BED. It was really starting to hurt. I also got sick at the doctor's office. It was the first time since surgery. I was in a hurry and didn't have time to eat so I had a protein drink. Guess, I won't try that again for a while. Other than that everything is good. I feel pretty normal again, just a little tired.

I am SO jealous. My doctor leaves them in for a month! I have to put up with the darn thing until 4/1!!!! He's a great doc in other respects, but I could strangle him for this one! The skin around it is somewhat less irritated than it was, though so that is something... I'm glad for you. I'm sure it will make you more comfortable. Joy

My surgery was 3/2 mine comes out 3/18...it is red around the incision but doc says to use Neosporin and small 2x2 gauze pad - it feels fine with a small gauze pad custom cut to fit around it...and i don't have to look at it...

what exactly is a G-tube...my doctor did not talk about one, is it something not everyone has to have?

I think its a drain they put in your side to drain the blood and gook.. I will have one, but as long as it isnt seeping too much, he will remove it before I leave the hospital! Thank GOD!!
