Update on Surgery Recovery Progress

Hi everyone: Well it's been 9 days since surgery and today is my 5th day recovering at home. I'm not sure I mentioned that I am not allowed to eat anything yet, due to this being a revision of surgery from 12 yrs ago, I had a feeding tube inserted into my tummy, to by pass my esophagus so it could heal from acid reflux problems so, I've got two drains on the left and one feeding tube on the right. Quite attractive!! I've been running a low grade fever since I got home (99-100) so I'm in a constant state of what I like to refer to as "glazed" - I'm down from 256lbs - 244lbs so that's certainly decent. I have not been able to walk much as I have this constant ringing in my ears (from the fever I hear) so. Doc has me on antiobiotics and I actually feel "ok" - energy levels are on a rollercoaster and what I find I miss the most (living in Seattle) is my morning Latté!!! As far as I'm concerned this ice chip thing ain't swinging it for satisfaction and I think he's allowing it for my amusement more than anything! I go into the doc today to get sutures out so I have a lot of questions about things! It sounds like others are doing really well which is great!! Well I see someone else has the title of QUEEN, so any body mind if I take "Glazed Goddess?" haha...Reminds me of a Krispy Kreme twirling around in a window w/lights/cameras!! OK..time for ms delirious to get outta here...

ooooooooooooh .I love the Glazed Goddess name. Sorry you are having a few 'issues' but glad you seem to be making the best of it as well, and remember, it will only get better!!! Hugs, Mo

GG, I think revisions are a lot tougher than original surgeries, but it sounds like you are doing great. I know you wont miss the reflux! I still have a G-tube too--will til 4/1. It is annoying! Joy

I am a bit curious...how well did you do with the first surgery? When did you notice problems? Was it something that could have been avoided? I don't know too much about revisions and just wondering.
