Billy da Pouch Screamed at me tonight
Billy, who is all of 11 days old, acted his age tonight and threw a tantrum for some pizza. My wife had a meeting tonight so I made frozen pizza for my three girls, and pureed some chicken and mashed potatoes for myself. As I sliced up the pizza for the girls, Billy got a wiff of the sausage and pepperoni and went ballistic. All of a sudden a little Billy in a devil suit was on my left shoulder telling me I could just strip some cheese, susage and pepperoni off the crust and really, really chew it up. Then a little Billy in Angel attire popped up on my right shoulder and told me no, not to do it, I can wait three months to try something like that.
I sat at the table with my girls, and gave Billy a small bite of the meat and potatoe mixture and he mellowed a bit. While it is pureed, I try to take my time at eat slowly. After the third bite, Billy had forgotten about the pizza and was happy to have his dinner.
Whew, that has been my first craving for anything. For the most part, I'm not hungry at all and force myself to eat to get the needed protein. I was happy to pass this test, I'm sure there will be more to come.

Hang in there Ken.. Sounds like Billy is as bad as the Outlaw you named him after!!! Good for you.. Couldn't have been easy to smell it and have to see it like that.. I wonder who can scream louder though.. Billy or the KIDS?? You could have made them something boring too (just kidding)
Just thought it was kinda a fun story on my first real desire for food. The nurse that did the surgery prep showed me a picture of herself as she just celebrated her third anniversary of WLS. Like she said, we can change the stomach but not the mind. So it is up to me to change the mind. It is one thing to blow a diet, but the last thing I want to do is blow the seams on Billy da Pouch.
I have had a remarkable recovery up to this point. I get my drain out today, and will begin to ride my Aerodyne again. I have been walking, but I like to bike and I like the Aerodyne because you do get some arm work in as well.
Keep the faith all of you. I have no doubt that down the road I may be able to have a small bit of cheese, sausage and pepperoni, but now is not the time.
Way to go Ken! I gave Pepe that marvelous taste of mac n cheese yesterday (legal for me), and he was demanding the rest of the day too. I think in my case the carbs may have set off hunger bells, but I chomped 2 popcicles in a row at bedtime trying to make him shut up! That head hunger is a powerful thing!
