I am 6 days pre-op and I have this overwhelming need to get my whole house organized!!! If I had a garbage truck, I would toss almost EVERYTHING into it that was not absolutely neccessary!! Then, its the trick of having the energy to do it. AAARRRRGGG!!!! Being Bipolar, I can't help thinking that I could sure use a good 'up' right now, just for that reason. But that is a whole other web site. I was just curious about this n' stuff...

I think your feelings are perfectly normal...well except for tossing everything. It is normal to want to prepare yourself and your home to be in the best possible shape for a relaxed recovery. Let's face it who wants to look at dirt and disorganization when you need all your energy for your body to heal. I've gotten my house as ready as possible. Bills will be paid tomorrow. Birthday and Easer cards are ready for mailing. I bought the things I want to take to the hosp. with me. All my pre op test results will be with me, in hand, when I go to the hosp. - just in case they misplace them. I've been walking a little, although my arthritis is killing me, especially since I had to stop the celebrex. I've been deep breathing and blowing up balloons. I'm flying from FL to NY for surg. so my tickets are all set. I got a haircut and will have my eyebrow and lip waxed on Monday. Now I just have to wait and wait and wait. 8 days until surg. but I fly to NY on Tuesday so I'll get time to spend with my grandbaby before it. So I just feel like I have to wait until Tuesday until things start to move along. So don't think you're off the wall...it's like preparing for a test or a vacation...you just have to get everything lined up. Good luck and best wishes. Louise

I was amused to find myself with a "nesting" instinct almost as strong as when I had children. You are not alone! Joy

WOW, I didn't know that this was what it was called...I donated 10 bags and boxes of "stuff" and clothing the other day, I threw out an old couch, rearranged my living room, bought a new recliner, threw out all my chipped dishes, organized my kitchen cabinets and am making lists daily. 4 more nights to surgery!

Oh Mary, I have been cleaning like mad!!! I have been filling big black trash bags and getting frustrated that it's not helping! LOL. There are times when I would happily put Mr Mo into one of those bags and get rid of him too, as if that would help. I am thinking I don't have enough time to do everything I want to do, but I would like to have my house organized before I go. Hugs, Mo doin' the 11 days and a wake up happy Mo dance

Not only did I do it, I made my whole family do it. We spent a whole Sunday scrubbing, tossing, and cleaning. I had fun and I don't think they did, but I figured I would never have more leverage and my husband is a slob. It was overdue in our case and I certainly have enjoyed the changes while recuperating -- I got home on 3/4. It has made a big difference. I took 6 bags of fat clothes to Good Will. I practically flung them at the guy's head (look out, black stretch pants INCOMING). What is the saying, a new broom makes clean? Apparently, an incipiently thinner one does, too. (But, um, throwing everything out might be a bit much. )
