Hey Everyone, I have a quick question for everyone who has had their surgery already or knows someone who has. My surgery is planned for 3/18/04. It was a bit earlier than I expected. My problem is that I have my Jack & Jill Wedding Party planned for 3/27/04. How was everyone feeling 9 days later? Do you think I will be OK at my party? Obviously, I won't be drinking but do you think I will be able to dance at all? Please let me know ASAP!!! Thanks so much for all of your support. Love, Christin

I am 9 days preop. I can move pretty freely at this point, but I would say I am a "best case" scenario in this regard. I'm still not sleeping really well, but its starting to get better. I have only been comfortable in street clothes the last 2 days. My abdomen was really swollen before then. I have a G tube which is a bit difficult to disguise--(you may not--your doctor would probably said if you will). My energy is limited, especially near the end of the day (but then I am 52 years old!!) I'd say it is possible, but not totally predictable. A week more would greatly improve your chances of enjoying the event. If you leave it set this way, make yourself walk and bend and stretch and stand as long as you can several times a day on the days preceding. If all else fails, save back a pain pill and maybe you can be a bit numb. I wish I could be more positive, but each person is so different, it is very hard to predict! Joy

Christian, Of course no one can predict how you will fell, it all depends on how things go and how motivated you are to keep moving and feeling better. I had my lap rny on 3/1 and feel great today (3/10) Could I dance? I think so, of course I wouldnt want to be break dancing, but just a common dance and slow dances sure!!! I went to an all day wrestling tournament of my childrens on 3/6 and did fine. I havent needed any pain medicines since before I left the hospital. I was amazed at how easy this surgery was, but dont get me wrong, it isnt that easy for everyone. I am one of the blessed ones. As young as you are and I assume healthy, you will do wonderful. Take Care, Janelle

I am now 9 days post op and I feel very good. I am a bit lethargic through out the day I think because my body is not quite used to the lower intake of calories. I do not have any pain in my abdomen anymore and haven't for many days. I would say that if you rest up that day you will be able to enjoy a few hours of fun.

Christin, of course everyones healing period is different but I can tell you that I am 8 days post op and yesterday I was up and walking with TONS of energy. I also danced fast a little just joking with my husband and niece. I am full of energy. I hope this is how you will be. Like someone else on this thread said, (I believe it was Joy) get up as much as you can the days preceding the surgery. Walk as much as you can and stand as much as you can. Good Luck!! Bethany AKA Da Offishal Riddler 8 Days into NewPouch and feeling great! A riddle a day will keep the Marchers pounds AWAY!
