I need your prayers :)
Hi everyone, My name is Christin and I am 20 years old (will be 21 on 3/22/04). I am new here and I will be having my surgery on March 18, 2004. I am a bit nervous but mostly really, really excited. I just can't wait until it is over. However, the reason for this post is that a large majority of my family does not support me in this, my own father has even decided to stop talking to me. This is all stressing me out ALOT!!! I don't want to be stressed going into this. I want to be happy. I was wondering if you all who are into praying could mention me in your prayers tonight and durring my surgery, Since my family won't.
Hi Christin,
Hey, we have the same date, how cool is that
I am truly sorry that you are getting no support at home, please don't stress over the lack of support, I think they just don't understand, I will be praying for wisdom for them.
Know that this prayer warrior in Wisconsin will be praying her heart out for you.
Love,
Betty
Christin,
I'm sorry to hear about your family not supporting you right now. Hopefully it won't last. I gladly keep you in my thoughts, hopes and prayers.
There's so much misunderstanding in society about obesity. I think the best you can do is to educate your self and in the process, try to educate your family so they can have the understanding and provide you the support.
In the meantime, I'm sure you'll find plenty of support at this website. You may also want to see if there are any WLS support groups near you that you can attend.
Best of luck,
Caboose
Hi and congradulations on your surgery date. I will be praying for you and for your family to understand that this is something that you have to do for yourself. Many people don't understand, but in time when they see you so happy and on your way back to a more normal life they will understand. Just give them some time. I myself am doing this for me and that is how it should be. I am so happy that you didn't wait as long as I have. Wish I would of done this many many years ago.. Will be thinking of you on the 18th.... best wishes for a fast recovery and be happy this is the beginning of your new life.

Christin:
Keep remembering why you are making this decision. You have your whole life ahead of you.
I do not have much family support either. But then I am older, single and live alone. They are all going their separate ways but I also know when push comes to shove, they will be there when I need them the most. I have had to say to some..I made this decision, please support me on this.
You will be fine. You have the support of this group and we will help you on your journey. Welcome to the Marchers
I'm sending warm thoughts and good wishes. You may have to do this without family support but you are strong, look at you! You made a very big decision obviously on your own! You are unique and special and this surgery is your tool to help you keep your uniqueness around longer. You have come this far and now have not only do you have a date but you have found us, The Marchers, and if your nuclear family can't be there for you well you still have your Marchers Family! We'll all be pulling for you and putting in the good word!
Love & Hugs to our new family member!

Of course you will be in my prayers, along with healing of your family relationships that are hurting right now.
They are just frightened for you and are using their strongest powers to do what they think of as protection of you. Understand that this is a message of love, even if it is misdirected. Once they see you are OK, things will start to return to normal--you will see. Right now take care of yourself and lean on those who understand.

Of course we'll pray for you. Sooo sorry that you are having this trouble with you family. It could be that they are just scared and uninformed. There is sooo much negativity out there right now about WLS...They just cannot face the whatifs (you are their baby after all)...Try taking them to a support group meeting or seminar or meeting with your surgeon and maybe that will make them more comfortable with your decision. Whatever the case may be, I will be praying for you. You have our total and unconditional support.
