Dawn, I am afraid I don't know exactly what you are asking and I haven't had surgery yet, but if you look down the list, there is a thread called "G Tube" that may have some of the answers in it you are looking for.

You will have 2 tubes down your throat during surgery. An NG tube to keep your pouch dry while the doc is working. An endotrach tube to keep your air passage open while you are under anesthetic. Usually both are removed before you wake up. I would guess the endotrach is removed first and if either one is left longer it would be the ng. Sometimes the ng tube goes out your nose instead of mouth. I don't remember either in my surgery last week. Joy

Dawn, I had no idea about my breathing tube until I woke up. When you wake up your throat may be a little sore due to it but you will not remember it. Bethany AKA Da Offishal Riddler 7 Days into NewPouch and feeling great! A riddle a day will keep the Marchers pounds AWAY!
