?????????????HELP!!!!:help:
Hi fellow Marchers,
have a question my brother had his open rny on 1-27 he had a tube down his thoat can't remerber what they call it but after surgery he was in icu something our doctor does for 1 day I am told with some patients. but he had his tube in his thoat for almost 2 days he has sleep apnea.
my question is what is the ones here that have just had there surgery did you remerber your breathing tube or was it out once you woke up. I have heard you don't remerber it.maybe a few of the new losers could tell us a little about the 1st few days after surgery what happen the test the diet and etc Thanks so much
You will have 2 tubes down your throat during surgery. An NG tube to keep your pouch dry while the doc is working.
An endotrach tube to keep your air passage open while you are under anesthetic.
Usually both are removed before you wake up. I would guess the endotrach is removed first and if either one is left longer it would be the ng.
Sometimes the ng tube goes out your nose instead of mouth.
I don't remember either in my surgery last week.
