Hi Marchers, I just wanted to get a clue of what post ops are eating now and are there any foods you just can not stomach? I absolutely can not STAND Tuna anymore Today for breakfast I ate around 2oz of oatmeal.. snack: 1oz apple sauce.. skipped lunch, snack: SF Popcycle....dinner 1oz mash potatos with tomato gravy over it and 1oz peas..was delicious... but is this enough or too much??

A riddle a day will keep the Marchers pounds AWAY!
Bethany,
I had my surgery the day before yours and I am still on clear liquids. Start full liquids with protien shakes tomorrow, and next Tuesday I start blended diet which I am to be on for 4 weeks. During my 7th week I can start solids, this is the diet my Doctor has his patients on.
So think of me and my broth while you are enjoying your mashed potatoes and gravy.

I haven't went to the nutrition class but I second the protein statement! Remember you wanna keep those beautiful tresses firmly attached to yer scalp! Not to mention that you will be losing some lean muscle and if you keep the protien intake you may still lose some but it won't be as much. You also gotta keep the sipping going. I'm still 13.5 days away and I know it's easy for me to say because I have my "Old Pouch" but you gotta try!

Here are my post-op Marching orders for when I get home from the hospital:
- 32 oz of water daily - minimum
- chew all bites a minimum of 20 times (rule is to sing Happy Birthday while chewing. Swallow when you're done, then sing HB again before putting anything more in your mouth (I'm gonna get sick of that song)
- use a shot glass for meal sizes - it's 6oz - the size of newpouch
- 60 - 80 grams of protein per day - use pretein shake for 2 meals if need be
- meals the 1st week should consist of nothing but protein: suggestions are soft omelet with fat free cheese, fat free sugar free yogurt, canned shrimp, moist chicken, salmon, flounder, tilapia, low-fat cottage cheese
- simple rule is that if it can't easily mush with a fork, it does not go into the mouth.
Hope this gives you some suggestions.

this time next week I'll have crossed over - Yiiiipppppppeeeeee!
I am trying my best to get my protien in; however it is hard to get the full 50 grams. I will tell you a good idea my husband came up with though...I like pudding for a snack, so we went and bought some homogonized carb countdown milk. and some vanilla protien shake. We mixed 2.5 cups of the countdown and 2 scoops of the protien shake in the pudding and it is DELICIOUS!! It kind of taste like cake batter lol. Just a thought.
