Special Diets

My Dr. did not put me on any special pre op diets are we suposed to do a pre-op diet?????

My doc didn't put me on anything either. The only thing I need to do is go on liquids for dinner the night before surgery and then nothing after midnight. Each doc is different. mgm 1 week to go

Hi Sarah, My doc did not put me on any special diet, just nothing after midnight. I whined about having a 'last dinner' He said just don't do it the night before surgery because I will know exactly what you ate. I asked the PA about a liquid diet to shrink the liver, he said no, they do not do it that way, I said, hey that's A O.K. with me, whatever works Betty

/whine on I just started my 2 week pre-op diet. It's hell. I'm hungry and I have a caffiene headache and I need to start bleeding soon, cuz I don't wanna have THAT goin on while I'm in surgery. Bleah! /whine off

My doctor said no special pre-op diet either. Just nothing to eat or drink after midnight the night before surgery. I'm planning on an excellent, but early, dinner the night before. Caboose t-23

No special diet for me. Eat regular breakfast day before surgery, no meat at lunch and clear liquids the rest of the day till midnight. Then nothing. thank Goodness my surgery is at 8 am. I get hungry early otherwise. One suggestion: try to wean yourself off regular sugar and caffine.

EACH DR IS DIFFERENT. SOME ARE ON LIQUIDS 2 WEEKS PRE-OP SOME FAST A DAY AND SOME DO NOTHING. SOME DRS PUT YOU ON A LIQUID DIET POST OP SOME START YOU OUT ON SOFT FOODS. I HAVE A JP DRAIN AND SOME DONT. SO MY ADVICE IS TTO FOLLOW WHAT YOUR SURGEON WANTS. GOOD LUCK TO YOU. LADONNA
