Do I really need to pack the tongs? Will I use them after surgery? What do I really need to pack in my suitcase to bring to hospital (what will I use)Thank you sooooooo much! Love Sandy 10 days and a wake up

I did'nt need the tongs or the wet wipes. In fact I did't even carrie the tongs. Lip chap is a must and ice that is the main to and slippers and a robe.

Can you reach your back side without twisting your body? Hunkering forward is fair, but not twisting or lifting one hip. Try it as a test and see. It all depends on the ratio of your arm length to the mass you have to reach around! The tongs make your arms longer! Joy

All I can say is I would rather take them and not use them than need them and not have them. Do you have a pillow or stuff animal to take to hold as you cough? I bought the cutest teddybear this weekend.

I didn't have tongs or a spatula, but after the dye test and the catheter was out I kind of wish I'd had the plastic spoon. I mostly wore hospital gowns because my drain site was gushing and every little bit it'd spring a leak and I'd have to have the dressing changed. I left a real nice puddle for the folks in X-RAY the day of my "leak test". -Toiletries - you'll need -Book or Magazine, needlework - I didn't do much with any of them but they were a nice distraction when I did. Check out Sharon Neva's page here: http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/profile.phtml?N=N1017180811 She has ton's of great information on this page. In addition I have some additional suggestions here: http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/surgdate-forums/03-2004/postdetail/7143.html?vc=0 Hope this helps, Va 6 Sunrises POST-OP Offishal Paper Monkey and Secretary Extraordinaire My Angels ==> Whitney Lori My Angelettes ==> Whitney H & Lori A

IT WA REALLY HARD FOR ME TO WIPE. WITH THE HUGE GOWN AND THE DRAIN TUBE HANGING AND BEING SORE. I DID IT THOUGH. THE ONLY THING I USED WAS MY HAIRBRUSH THE 2ND DAY. THE HOSPITAL GAVE ME THE REST. A PILLOW MAY BE GOOD TO BRING. IT MAY HELP YOU GET COMFORTABLE. GOOD LUCK TO YOU. LADONNA
