I haven't had this experience but I was wondering if your hospital offers onsite accomodations?
Just a thought..
As for things to take with you.. I'd be sure to pack extra pillows for sure. Bottled Water and whatever else the Dr said you'll need post op.. Depending on your procedure.. it could be a little or a lot....
Good Luck!!!!
Take protein powder and drink supplies. Hopefully you will have a refrig and can stock up on ice and milk. If your doc allows it you may also want SF jello (you can buy it ready made), yogurt, sf pudding.
I tend to add nonfat dry milk to anythink I can to boost nutrition, this would be easy to pack. You will need measuring cups and shake containers (Tupperware has one that measures and shakes. There is someone from OH that is a dealer that will sell for cost. Email me if you are interested and I will find her email addr). I go through a lot of glasses and spoons for stirring. Take home the little cups that they give you in the hospital to use for measuring. You will want some nail polish remover (acetone) to get off the sticky goo. I switched from slippers to socks once I got home. Loose fitting clothes in case you have to go out. My abdomen is still swollen a week post op. I still don't like underwear, but lowcut and big is best. First aid for dry parched lips. A favorite blanket to snuggle up in. Ask for extra pillows to get you comfy. Shoes for walking outside. Some books to read.
That's all I can think of! I think that is everything I have used since I got home that I did not use in the hospital.
