ICE....First Weekers!!!
Hey,
Just wanted to mention about the benefits of ice post-op and pain. I was never offered it in the hospital. I guess they thought I'd open the bag and suck down a half pound.
Anyway, once I got home, I was so miserable (drain site again and return of the fever that kept me in the hospital an extra day) that the only way I got to sleep last night was with an ice pack out of the freezer. I keep them ready (bad knees and migraines). Not only did it ease my pain but my fever of 100.8 was gone this morning.
This afternoon when the energy completed faded and I needed a nap, I again got my ice pack and 'chilled'.
Something to consider if your pain pills are not doing the trick.
Happy thoughts,
Va

Hey Virginia!
Welcome back! Yes, I was lucky enough to be given ice in the hospital, but I was also lucky enough to be prescribed liquid Roxicette for my at-home pain med. Only 1 tsp, and I feel better already. I usually take 2 tsp at night as I do tend to roll around a lot. Sure do miss that self-administered morphine pump, though . . .
You might want to ask your doc about this. I have been dreaming about scrambled eggs and bacon and it's driving me bananas (another food I can't have yet!) Oh, yes, the pain med induces some pretty weird dreams and definitely messes up your vocabulary. When my husband repeats back what I said to him, it sounds as though I am tripping a hippie flashback, pre-70's. Unless, of course, you know what "electric pudding" is? Hang in there, dear, it will get better soon!
