hospital stay, whats needed

My surgery is on the 16 of March and I was wondering what I should bring with me to the hospital.

I'm taking one out fit which I will wear in and one which I will wear out. I'm taking the usual toiletries and yep, you guessed it YARN! (and a needle) The last time I was in the hospital I made baby booties for a pregnant nurse just so I could have something to keep my hands and mind occupied. Of course I didn't have surgery that time and I may just want to sleep it off. I'll have the yarn though, just in case. I want to say that I'm not going to bother with panties, yep I'm a gonna go native! They rest on your tummy and for those of us having open that would be right across the incision. I was gonna wear my blanket sleeper jammies but heck it's getting warm here and I may just go with a long nightie.... I won't be stopping to eat out when I'm released so it's not gonna be a problem. I asked the what to bring to the hospital question this a.m. at my support group meeting and the unanimous answer from post ops was .. your favorite PILLOW !!! I have seen that mentioned on this board before along with the suggestion that it not be in a while pillow case or it might disappear since hospital linens are white. I am with Gayle on the basic toiletries and wearing home what I wear in. I will have Mr Mo bring my laptop and some DVDs to entertain me if I need them. the only thing i used out of what i took was a hairbrush and a pair of underwear. the hospital gave me a toothbrush, toothpaste, mouth wash, socks, lotion, and anything else you may need. i also got a goody bag from the nurse which had bandages, tape, peroxide, 1oz cups, and q-tips. i didnt have to ask the nurse offered it but i would ask for whatever you can get. good luck to you.
