I dont know how else to say this but to say it... I had my surgery on March 1, it is not March 6 and I still have not gone potty. I dont feel constipated. I'm thinking maybe because I am only drinking 1 ounce every 15 minutes. Should I be worried? Other than that, I am doing quite well. Minor soreness, I am getting around really well and feel great. I dont think I have lost any weight yet though. I REALLY hate this tube in my side though, it wont come out until next Thursday. help!!! Sarah

If you are passing gas, you are OK. Nothing in/ nothing out. If you are not passing gas, you should call the dr and ask. They made me use a suppository in the hospital to make sure I was at least passing gas before they would let me come home. Hope this helps. Joy

Dear Sarah: I think you should call your doctor and ask. We are not bariatric surgeons and may not always know medical answers. I know my daughter was not allowed to leave the hosp until she had a bm and she had nothing to eat. After 3 days she had a small bm and went home on the 4th day. Good luck with your recovery and weight loss. Louise

Sarah, I agree with Joy, you should be gassy as all heck at first. Not a real comfortable time but walking does help. If you are truly on a all liquid diet with no milk products ingested, then you probably won't do anything but be gassy. All those stupid teenager movies that mimic bodily sounds don't even come close as to what this is like for the first 3 or 4 days!! NO I'm not kidding!!! BUT if you are not gassy, and are ingesting milk products, and still don't have BM's or something gross and strange resembling baby poop. CALL YOUR Doctor!!! According to what I've been told, you won't have a "NORMAL" pre-op BM for a long time. Question??? Did you do a leak test?? If so did you drink contrast medium or ingest some other dye agent??? Va

being constipated can be from the pain relivers... if you already stopped the pain medication I would contact your doctor. But just to make sure I'd contact your doctor anyways... just to make sure

Hi Sarah, Better safe than sorry.. call the DOC and be sure this is normal.. You don't want to become dehydrated or take any risks.... It's too soon to worry about weight loss... You still have IV Fluid weight.. Feel better soon!!!
