I have a surgery date of March 15th
I am having the LAP band. Any suggestions for before, during, after my surgery? I am starting to wonder if the LAP is the best choice. I am self paying and want to make sure that I do the best thing the first time around. I guess I am getting nervous now that it is coming fast. But, I am ready to take this step!
There are only 2 reasons why I won't have the lap band.
1) I have a hiatal hernia, and the band can put pressure on it and make it worse.
2) I don't have insurance that covers wls, so I'm going out of the country.
The lap band can be very successful. The thing is, all these surgeries are tools and we need to remember that we should follow the after-care programs and eat when and what we are supposed to.
From reading profiles, I realize there are some exceptions, but most of the ones I see who gain the weight back do things you just shouldn't do - like drink with your meals, not exercise, drink juice often and eat lots of things that are advised against on a regular basis.
I think with common sense we can lose it all and keep it all off. Some of us will never be skinny, but we can lose most of it and we don't need to sabotage ourselves into gaining it back. I want to keep that at the forefront of my thoughts so I make the best use of this tool.

Hi Sheila!
Welcome to the Marchers! I don't know a whole lot about the LAP Band so I can't really answer any of your questions. But I did want to take a moment to welcome you to the board and wish you well on your journey!
