this is killing me

It's a good thing my surgery is in less than 2 weeks. I am borderline obese according to my doctor, but not if you see me, so I have to keep my BMI up to 35 in order to qualify for the surgery. Well I have found out in this whole process that I would probably never normally go above a 33 or 34 BMI, but I also can't get down to a 24BMI. So I have been eating and eating and eating for the last 3 or 4 weeks just to ensure that I have this surgery. I've gained a few pounds and it is just killing my knees I can barely walk downstairs. (and to think I used to be a ski instructor) and even my shoulders hurt from lying on them in bed. I have to say that the eating part without guilt has been a lot of fun, but my knees don't like it. About 2 1/2 years ago I lost 70 pounds (while on diet pills) and my knees didn't hurt at all. It was just wonderful. I am so looking forward to that again. Surgery on March 18th. Thanks for listening.

Stop eating like crazy. Once you are approved thats it, they don't come back and weigh you. Eat at your comfort level. You'll fell much better. Good luck with your surgery, Mine is on March 15, and my bmi is 37.4, and in a bad week 38.7. Wishing you the best of luck. Simone

Hi Simone: My doctor does weigh and measure the day before surgery, so I can't lose weight.

I've never heard of anything so ridiculous in my life. You're doctor is telling you if you don't weigh enough at surgery he/she won't do it? I'd double check with his office. The less you weigh for your surgery the better health you are in and the less the risk of the surgery. Your doctor should be grateful. Sorry, I had to vent on this one. Best of luck, you caboose

Louise, how are you? Don't know if you remember me but I remember you! Happy 4th anniversary - I'm contacting as many of our Marchers as I can to encourage everyone to post on their anniversary dates - share whatever you want to talk about - successes, failures, triumphs, tragedies - mostly, please tell us how you're doing with maintaining your weight loss. So many of us are struggling and I think all need a good talking to from each other, no matter where we're at in this journey - we're in this together, please, please check in on your anniversary date! Take care, Maureen
