Don't want to catch a cold!!!

This is based off a earlier post. I teach kindergarten and I am very worried about catching a cold before surgery. I have doubled up on vitamin c. I have been washing my hands more, and keeping them away from my face. But as hard as I try, my 28 little kinders still sneeze on me, hand me their pencil or snack to open with goobers and oogies on it. I will do my best to stay well. If anyone has any additonal suggestions on how to stay healthy these last 18 days, please share with me. Wendy Ann

Try to handle things as little as possible but if you have to keep a bottle of tha****erfree hand sanitizer and use it often. Good luck.

Zinc - start taking it now. Get the Zinc/Echinacia lozenges and suck on about 1 a day. IF you start getting a cold, you have a head start and can take them all day. I did this when DH and my son got a cold last fall and they were sick for 2 weeks. I was sick for 3 days and only mildly so. They were absolutely miserable. Of course, washing hands and using hand sanitizer certainly can't hurt either! Dina

Sounds like you have most of the bases covered. I worked in daycare and when we had illnesses circling around, we made extra sure to throughly clean our rooms. Sanitizing the toys with bleach solution (which we did weekly anyway), spraying the room daily with lysol (when the children had gone home), spraying the telephone with lysol, sanitizing tables and chairs (again part of our regular routine, but we were extra dilligent during high illness times), and wash hands all the time + santitize (especially if you have assisted in wiping a nose, etc.) You'll be fine. whitney
