Protein Powder online sites..(one specific for Bariatric)
HI,
I just wanted to post about protein powder.
I am learning that they are not all the same.
I was recently led to 2 websites.
www.unjury.com (they actaully offer a deal for bypass patients and will send it automatically if you want..like once monthly)
I have heard really great things about this product including taste, and tolerability!
Also I have another friend who is heavy into protein
and uses a 'whey based' protein (though I believe Unjury is whey based as well)
The site she buys from is www.allthewhey.com
They have two blends..and the most tolerable is the 'isolate' formula.
(but comes in flavors)
The biggest difference between the two as far as I can see (and having my protein knowledgable friend looking at them) is cost.
Unjury is more expensive, but they claim to be the best tasting, best everything...
You can order samples from them.
So what I did was order the trial pack from unjury and a 2lb container from allthewhey and will check them both out.
I agree with others though that tasting them before surgery is not the best indicator. I am going to wait until after and see what I think.
I hope I like and can tolerate the allthewhey one because it is significantly cheaper!! But unjury has a very very good reputation.
I encourage you to look them over and I will keep you posted!
Again if you go to 'alongthewhey', you want the 'isolate' not the 'isolate blend'...
I am PRAYING I dont get sick before Monday..please say a prayer for me.
I have one child vomitting today, and another has a cold!!
I can't get sick. I can't get sick. I wont get sick. I won't get sick!
Thanks everyone,
So nice to be here among friends in the same exact situation.
Welcome home to all of you first weekers! That will be next week this time!
Kris
Thanks for the additional sources. I will take a look
I posted this earlier in another string but some may have missed it. I think it is important to look at the cost per serving.
I had a real great experience at GNC yesterday. (General Nutrition Center) I went in and asked them for the tasteless/flavorless kind and they ended up letting me try the flavored stuff, They had it all mixed up ready for trials. There is one that I got that tastes VERY VERY GOOD. It is called "Amplify" it comes in several flavors, Banana, chocolate, cookies & cream and vanilla. The texture is creamy and it gives you 20 grams of protein if mixed with 6oz of water and even more when mixed with milk.
This makes a great snack inbetween meals. I figure why mess up the other food you are trying to eat. There are two other things I need to mention. The cost is 42.00 for a 2 pound (32 oz) (40 servings) jar which translates to about $1.05 per serving and it has very little sugar in it. I had some last night and this morning and it did not make my insides gurgle like those with sugar do. This will not cause the dumping syndrome. I mentioned before that carnation instant breakfast would be an OK source of Protien. Don't listen to that. Although the Dietician suggested it to me the sugar content is too high and it made me feel aweful.
