Strictures
Hi fellow Marchers. Your caboose has a question. I've seen people talking about strictures on the main message board from time to time. I know the definition of a stricture but don't exactly know what they're talking about in relation to this surgery. Can someone explain this to me please?
Thanks

I could be wrong (me?) but if I remember correctly they are scar tissue. The tissue starts to heal and sort of shrink a bit, that's where food isn't allowed through. At least that's how the doc 'splained things to me when my dad had surgery. Do me a favor though and double check. Don't take my word for gospel!

This is what I found...
A stricture is a narrowing of the stoma (opening from the pouch into the intestine) Usually they occur around 3 weeks due to the fact that they 'over-healed' from surgery. They can, however, occur at other times. They occur in 6% or less of WLS. They commonly make you vomit, but not always.
Hope that helps...
