Blender to the GB PTs....
My husband decided to get a Vita Mix which is one of the really super blenders that you see at the fairs. They cost like $500 new and well I bought an older model on e-Bay and they say that it can do everything for me for my food including the chewing! It makes ice cream and bread and even get this cooks soup! So instead of buying the baby foods and stuff I will just take what I cook for him and pop it in the blender so I'll have the food with all the flavor without the huge chunks.... Has anyone else thought of doing this?

I guess I am taking the lazy way out. I don't really have to cook for anyone so I bought out the pudding, jello, tomato soup, and apple sauce supply at the local grocery store. I am also using carnation instant breakfast for my protien supply. This stoff is easy and it takes me a whole day to eat 2 to 3 of the neat little cups they come in. I am sure I will be craving some different flavors before long. perhaps by then I will be able to chew the food to the right consistancy. let me know how the blending works for you. I already have a blender and could do what you suggest if it tastes OK.
I'm with you...my Martha Stewart days are over, so I stocked up on ready made stuff (NOTE: take stock in Gerber Baby Foods if you don't already have it in your portfolio...hehehe...).
I DO have to make my jello and pudding from scratch - I'm allergic to aspartame, so I've figured out a pretty good jello recipe using the 'old fashioned' unsweetened KoolAid and Splenda. So I figure that all the hassle I'm putting in to the jello I'm gonna spare with baby food.
Yet again, I'm thinking that if I can blenderize my favorite Quiznos sub sammich, I'd consider it...hehehe...

Yeah, they do look kinda nefarious. But anything pureed that low isn't gonna look like a plate of prime rib with au jus and the works. Some of it is really pretty edible. They've got a LOT of new stuff out now, too...chicken with wild rice, stuff like that.
AND...I actually bought a box of Gerber Rice Cereal for my full fluids stage. It's got a really good taste to it: not quite as bland as cream of wheat, it's a bit sweeter.
With the baby food in jars, you just have to goober it up with salt/pepper/seasoning. After that, it's fine (at least to me).

Yes--My 90 year old Mom just moved to my brother's house and we disposed of all her stuff and I took her good blender and invested in a new gasket for 1.98 and have it ready to go! It will puree things to liquid if I need it.
I also thought I might need it for the protein drink...but the whey powder that I get from my surgeon's clinic is so smooth just mixed with a spoon. I have been drinking it once a day for a month already in preparation....it is ISS Whey powder.
