My surgery is scheduled on March 16. I dread it but definitely look forward to the outcome. The plan is to do my surgery as a LAP, however, things could change. How is the pain going to be versus the two surgeries? Is the LAP supposed to easier to recover from? It is somewhat scary to think that I will be under for three hours. Any advice?

I am March 16 too. I am having the open RNY. Recovery time is longer. I plan to be off work 6 weeks. Do not know anything about the pain difference. People I know that have had the open do not stay on pain meds past the hospital stay.

Thanks for your reply. Mine could turn into an open RNY. I guess they don't really know until they are in and can look around. Good Luck to you. I will be thinking of you on that day

Thanks for your support! I am sure it is okay for us to be somewhat apprehensive. I just keep telling myself that I am going to feel soooooo much better. Right now, I am so tired that that is all I do is sleep. Then that leads to being depressed and so on. I feel like such a slug! But I know that I will receive the ultimate payoff and am thankful for the support of all my friends here at OH. Best of luck to you as well. Rochelle
