Hi All! Here is a recipe for all you coffee lovers out there. This is in the recipes my Dr. gave me for the full-liquid stage. High Protein Coffee 4 oz. decaffeinated coffee (can use flavored beans) 2 Tbsp. nonfat dry milk Yield: 1 serving Serving size: 1/2 cup Calories per serving: 32 Protein per serving: 3.0 grams Cappuccino 1 C. skim milk, heated 1 1/2 tsp. instant coffee (decaf) Few drops of brandy extract 2 packets Equal sweetener Dash of cinnamon Combine all ingredients except cinnamon; top with cinnamon. Yield 2 servings Serving Size: 1/2 cup Calories per serving: 50 Protein per serving: 5.0 grams Designer Protein Cup of Joe 1/2 C. prepared decaf coffee 1/2 C. skim milk 2 scoops Designer Protein Chocolate 2 tsp. sugar-free cocoa Mix in blender for one minute until smooth. (This recipe didn't have the protein information on it but I think if you check the protein of each ingredient you could estimate it.)

Carrie - are you a coffee lover? I am a coffee lover/snob myself. I love that the doc is giving options for us, but I gotta say gag me with a spoon on the instant coffee. That's just nasty. I have a couple of low-carb recipes I made using Atkins shake mix way back before any of the low-carb milks came out. Now I will just use those for my specialty coffee fixes. Otherwise, when I am able to have coffee again, I'll likely do it black. I HIGHLY recommend the chocolate flavored Carb Countdown milk for those interested. Same low calories as the rest of the low-carb milks but SO RICH and yummy! As for me, I will probably be one of those heathens that goes right back to coffee. I've already asked Dr. Aguirre about it and he said I could have it 1 month after surgery, so you can bet I'll be prepared. Heck - I roast my own most of the time....I just can't do instant!!! As for the decaf, I'll maybe try a little, but I know I won't try hard. If the caffeine makes me sick, I'll surely go decaf, but I can't see that I will be good if it doesn't make me ill. I plan on making lots of low-carb creations again (I love that part of low-carbing) so I'll share some of my ideas with you if you're interested.

Hi Dina! No, I'm not a coffee lover. But I have seen some of you post that you will miss your coffee. So when I got these recipes I thought I would share them. I would be interested in any low-carb creation ideas you would like to share. I am always looking for new recipes and I have a notebook started with recipes from my Dr. and my support group that I attend. God Bless!!!
