I'm over my biggest hurdle

This may sound strange to some, but the pre-ops stuff and all the other stuff that goes with WLS is not my biggest hurdle. Mine is telling my 7 yr old daughter, who is terrified of hopitals. She has had 4 surgeries and is so scared of masks that the dentist can't wear one or she won't go in. I brought it up to her in a hypothetical way last week, but she got really scared, so I backed off and said I was just thinking about it, Well, tonight the opportunity presented itself. My daughter has some special needs and one of her problems is with obsessions. One of these obsessions is eating healthy and keeping her body healthy. Not a bad obsession! Well, tonight I used that and told her that my body was not healthy but that the dr could help me get healthy by doing this operation. She's also very medically aware and interested, so I showed her pictures of the stomach before and after the surgery. She was scared about it, but she also said she wanted me to stay healthy and she didn't want my heart to get sick. So she said it was ok with her, and that she would miss me while I was in the hospital. I was amazed - only God could have done that!!!! I'm a single mom and don't have a local support system, so I was really anxious about telling her. My mom is coming to stay with her while I'm in the hospital and will stay for a few weeks to help me. Paige (my daughter) was ok with that - she wanted to make sure that her Grammy knew about it and was ok with it. Thanks to all Marchers that continue to pray for all of us. You've become my support system and I love you all! I know God had his arms around Paige and I tonight as we spoke! Luv and Hugs to all of you! mgm 16 days to loserville

Marla, What a special relationship you must have with your daughter and what a bright little girl. I am happy that it has worked out for you and you have been able to explain it to her and she is comfortable with it. Hugs, Mo doin' the 21 days and a wake up happy Mo dance

Marla, how are you? Congrats on your 4 year anniversary! It's hard to believe how far we've come together. Would you do the Marchers a favor? Would you please lead the way in posting on our anniversary dates - post how you are, how you're enjoying your life, your trials, tragedies, triumphs, especially how you're doing with maintaining your weight loss this far out - any tools for sustaining success will be so appreciated as many of us are having difficulty. I hope you are well and I so hope to see your post bright and early on Saturday! Take care, Maureen
