What protein drink is everybody using? March 2nd is the day I go liquid, and I bought the new Dr. Phil shake "Shape Up". It's been ok'd by my dietician for protein/carb grams. I tried it today for the first time, and the chocolate (of course I'd pick chocolate) tasted pretty good. Living on them for a week before surgery is another story! Anybody? Karen

That old post was kinda far back....we jabber alot in here...so I copied it for you: I have been reading a lot about people hating the tastes of protein drinks and always looking for a new one...my surgeon has a whole bariatric program and I will get my supplies that she wants me to take right from the office near my home which is very nice. I have been drinking a protein drink once a day for a month now and I think it is delicious! I got the vanilla flavor and mix it in skim milk. It is called ISS for athletes, by athletes complete WHEY powder Vanilla. It also comes in chocolate. No sugar, No aspartame, low fat low in lactose. I get a 1000 grams jar, weighing 2.2 lbs. On the back it is says you can add it to cereal, yogurt, pancakes and sauces too. It mixes beaurifully without a blender. The address of the manufacturer is ISS Research, Charlotte SC 28269 phone is 1-888-231-2684 and website is www.issresearch.com. Try it, you'll like it! RE: Delicious Protein Powder! I have less then 2 weeks to find one I can handle! RE: Delicious Protein Powder! Response from Jessica Machado at 5:51 AM PST on 02/24/2004 New Bedford, MA - RNY (03/08/2004) I just got some protein powder from the Whole Foods Market near my mother.. its Egg White protein.. it has no other crap in it besides 24g protein and 1g carbs.. its Jay Robb I think there is a website for him.. Jayrobb.com It was 18.99 for a big jar. Oh and it doesnt taste nasty.. we made smoothies last night.. It is vanilla tho.. but the vanilla flavor is so small its pretty much tasteless. I wouldnt add it to V8 or anything like that tho.. 2 scoops powder handful of frozen fruit ( I get the mixed bad from BJ's wholesale club it has honey dew, strawberries, peaches, grapes, and pineapple) apple juice. OMG it was YUMMY!!!! Frozen fruit makes it slushy without using ice. RE: Delicious Protein Powder! Another one that is good is PermaLean. Their protein bars are totally outrageous tasting! I have not tried their powder, but my doctor will give me two bottles to bring home from the hospital. I think the website for PermaLean is permalean.com Hugs, Mo (doin' the 27 day boogie )

I'm actually not going to do a protein drink at all. I talked to my dr. the other day and he told me to try and get all of my protein from food. I'm going to do that until I get a negative result on my blood test. Then I'll do something about it. Until then, no way!

Hi Karen, I have tried the Carb Solutions powder .. it's Ok but not great .. and EAS powder. The EAS is pretty good, it doesn't make stuff thick and yucky. I haven't tried it myself but Kimmer swears by the Beneprotein (she gets it from Walgreens.com). I am into the protein powders for the long term. My doctor believes in 50 to 60 grams from regular diet as well as a supplemental 100 grams of protein per day from shakes or protein bars but I know that protein requirements are different from doctor to doctor. Hugs, Mo doin' the 22 days and a wake up happy Mo dance
