Olga, Congratulations on your date!!!!!!!! I don't know if you need the doccumentation from your doctor or not -- do you know if this is a requirement of Medicaid?? If so, do you have records from another doctor that maybe shows that you were on diet pills during that period of time and weight fluctuation?? That might work. Also, if your insurance company has prescription records that show payment for those medications or the pharmacy shows records of you filling those prescriptions that might work. Hope that helps. My primary doctor didn't know everything I had tried so I created my own list for him then to document in his chart. He had given me several things including xenical but really didn't have great followup either. Anway my point being is that he wrote the letter and I was accepted. Take a deep breath.

Kinda the same here, Brad... My PCP of over 20 years passed away. He was more like a family member than a paid professional, and although I blessed to find another one JUST like him, my "hero" doctor left with all the head and heart knowledge I needed for WLS. Anyway, I went to my Mom's internist for PhenFen in the '90s, so I figured he could at least verify THAT. He'd already recommended my sis for WLS 2+ years ago, he SWEARS by the operation. I'd only EVER seen him for PhenFen - nothing more, nothing since. I went in with a list of all the different diets I'd done thru the years, which Dr. supervised them IF a Dr. supervised them (show me a fat person who's gone to their Doc for EVERY diet and I'll show you a BROKE fat person...), and he wrote an EXTENSIVE but ambiguous letter that covered my diet failures from 1974 to present. I was DUMBFOUNDED when I got the copy, actually sent him a thank you card. I couldn't have my old PCP write one -- he'd passed away. I had no idea the internist would be so comprehensive for me. Point being, one concerned and supportive physician is all it takes sometimes. Kimmer Queen of the Niners, Instigator to All Marchers, High Priestess of Giggles Zero-minus-12 and 6 workdays!

Olga, Hi, you and I have the same date. Congrats!!!!! Hard waiting. It is my understanding that Medicaid/Medicare dose not require pre approval. You just have to meet certain standards and it has to be medically necessary. Your BMI needs to be over 40 and you must have a doctor write a letter stating it is medically necessary. Also they will only pay for open. My doctor is one of the few that take medicaid/medicare in Ga. Hope this helps Weclome to the Marchers Come on in and sit awhile Jump on in It's good to hear from everybody. Be sure to check with Va she is keeping a list of us Marchers, you'll see her post says something like "Surgery Dates" The Offisah Court Jester : aka Betsy

I have Medi-Cal which is California's answer to Medicaid. We need pre approval but I was lucky enough to get a letter from both my GP and my surgeons office. They wouldn't even give me a date until they got the approval. Could you have it and not yet know it? Crossing my fingers for you... Gayle in need of an March 22nd
