Don't make my mistake!

I was scheduled for surgery yesterday and got all the way to the pre-op room. The nurse ready to put in my I-V, and the anesthetician said, hold-up. I had just spoke with him a few minutes before and he detected that I had a slight cold coming on. He and my doctor decided it would be too risky for surgery because with anesthesia being hard on your pulmonary I might develope bronchitis or pneumonia. I am greatful to them for not wanting to take the risk and my doctor (Michael Schweitzer) said he would reschedule me for two weeks so I wouldn't have to wait long.New date 3/9/04. His nurse also gave me a prescription for a Z-Pak which should help clear up my chest. I feel bad that I didn't realize that the slight stuffyness I had would make that much difference. So, If you feel like your getting a cold, I suggest you call your doctor before you get this far.

Wow that's kind of a bummer, but at least your surgeon is thinking of your health first.

Thanks for your kind words. I'm not too bummed, I been waiting for four years I guess two weeks more doesn't seem that bad. Good Luck to you on your journey to a healthier life.

I am so sorry for this set back. You are very lucky to have such concientious doctors taking care of you. A little set back due to a little cold is very much worth it in view of the extreme complications you could encounter. Welcome to the Marchers!!! Hey, Kimmer, we got another Niner!!!
