Hey, Mary...welcome to the NINERS!! (Anyone having surgery on the 9th, 19th or 29th)
Being put on antibiotics is a GOOD thing, and in fact, I'm thinkin' 'bout asking my PCP for a 'script myself since I've STILL got this ANNOYING sinus infection going on (been all winter now...just won't go away despite 2 rounds of antibiotics already...sheesh!). It'll make sure you have no infections going on pre-op. I read 'bout a gal who was on the table, was just about to go under, and someone ran in and said "Wait! Wait!". Her WBC was elevated (indicating an infection somewhere), and they wheeled her BACK out of the surgical suite and delayed her surgery. I never found out what happened, but thought "Whoa...I'd've been REALLY lit if they'd've done that to ME!!!" But it does make sense.
Anyway, congrat's on the date...and take those antibiotics TO THE END of the prescription!!

Zero-minus-13 and 7 working days to go!
Hi Mary,
Welcome and nice to have you! In response to your question about the antibiotics---my surgeons also put me on antibiotics. I have not had surgery yet (March 1 yeah) but the day before surgery I have to take three rounds of antibiotics. I have to take two pills three times. I believe that I have to take the first set at 5 pm and then the next at 7 pm and then the last at 11 pm. My surgeon did warn that some people vomit or become nauseated. I guess because you haven't had any food for two whole days She just encouraged me to do the best that I could and if I happened to vomit that it would be okay anyway. At least I will be getting some of the medicine into my system.
I hope that helps a little bit. Good luck and God bless
Jill
