denied denied denied

well Marcher's I wont be among you. I wont even be among the April bunch. In fact....I am very unsure how long it will take me to fight my insurance company and get approval. It could be next year...you guys will be all healed and feeling fit & trim by then...I'll hopefully be done with the battle and having surgury by then...hopefully. I have to look into everything now...lawyers, appeals, "comprehensive physician behavior modification" etc. They said it wasn't medically necessary. Check out my profile...I know we are not doctors in here but I probably have more medical necessity than many in here. Maybe I dont. Maybe I'm crazy. But I doubt it. Bottom line...they dont wanna pay...sad thing is...my husband is co-owner and vice-president of the company supplying this **** insurance company. They are union and have no choice in the matter. It was chosen by the local. BUT we have paid TONS into this place and will continue to do so for a VERY long time. They didnt know that. Do you think it would have helped? I doubt it. Julia I truly know how you're feeling... I really do.. I won't say anything about there's always a reason and all that stuff... I'll say THIS SUCKS AND PEOPLE HAVE NO RIGHT TO CONTROL YOUR LIFE AND KNOCK YOU DOWN AND STOMP ON YOUR HEART.... This hurts and makes ya mad and it's not ok .. Just remember you're gonna keep fighting and keep Marching and you'll get there.... Marchers are fighters and we all take care of each other... Be mad and then try to channel it for good .... Julia, I just want you to know that I am praying for you and your situation. I am sorry that they denied you. At the risk of be optimistic...I believe that the Lord has prepared a path for you to follow long before you even know that there was a path. Julia - just keep fighting and overwhelm them with letters appeals and documentation. Most insurance companies play this game of denials right off the bat, but don't let it get you down. The insurance co's that pay will have to eventually pay. Get a lawyer if you don't already have one. They count on the folks who give up after the first or second denial...just keep going. If they have an iron clad exclusion, there is always self-pay like me. I'm going to Mexico. It's going to be $8500 plus travel/accomodation expenses, but still altogether much cheaper than here in the states. Keep us updated and hang around with us. Don't let this setback keep you from hanging around with us! Dina

Julia, I am so sorry I wish there were more words of encouragement I could give you and sometimes at this point we do not want to here "it will happen" I wish all states were as mine is... there is a law here that says they HAVE to approve you for WLS if you have a BMI of 40+. Hi Julia, I am so sorry to hear about your denial. I KNOW what you are going through. I fought and fought with Aetna. I have been on my quest to have this surgery for about a year and half all together. I KNOW how discouraging and disappointing it is. I will keep you in my prayers that you will have fast action from them. Please keep coming back even if you are not having surgery this month. We won't kick you out just because you don't get to have surgery this month. We will still be here for you if you need us. Do you have the link to the website for the attorney in CA who specializes in fighting insurance companies for the weight loss surgery? Oh Julia, I hurt for you! It is so wrong that medical decisions are now in the hands of business-men looking after their own financial issues. Have you considered litigation? It sounds like you have good grounds. There are other options too. Don't give up, just give yourself some time. Joy
