Zinc
We had a new lady start to work yesterday in the section next to mine. After lunch, her supervisor; who happens to be a friend of mine brought her over and said, " I thought you would like to meet Katrina. She had the surgery you are having." In fact Katrina had it 2 years ago. We were able to talk for a few minutes. She wanted to be sure and tell me and my friends to take Zinc. It is to help prevent the hair loss. She looks really good now.
So I have another person close by that will help me in my journey. Isn't that neat?
Before she left she said: "you know, you are really prepared for this surgery, I can tell you have done your homework."
KOOL!!
A close co-worker of mine had RNY about 2 years ago, and she's been giving me tips all along.
It IS a lot easier when you have someone within arms' reach to grab 'n talk to.
And, I totally disagree with some of the old-timers on other boards: I think the GREATEST majority of us Marchers ARE prepared for this. We've done our homework, we know what to do. Any questions we have, we ask, and then we get the answer to THAT, too. Grr...
T'anx for the zinc tip. Gonna ask my doc after surgery (I have to be off all vitamins and supplements except protein beginning next Monday, then will go back on after surgery).

I believe you are right about the zinc.
I had a guy with long hair cut my hair at a local beauty shop. His hair was almost to his shoulders. I went to another beauty shop for a few months when I returned to the guy his beautiful hair was had grown about 6 inches!!! He said a friend of his was an OBGYN and gave him prenatal vitamins. He's sure it is the extra zinc.
I was very interested in this because I lost MEGA hair during my pregnancies. I had an actual receding hairline for awhile (it does grow back THANK GOD). Seeing that thick long hair made me a believer.

Zinc! The wonders of zinc - gotta stock up then! LOL! I tried the zinc tabs for colds once and didn't find it helped, but then tried it a 2nd time with another cold and found that because I started it before I got sick (while DH and Mason were sick) when I did get it it only lasted 3 days and they were sick for 2 weeks. So I am a true believer now! Thanks for the inside track for the hair. I am so convinced I'm going to lose it, I'm processing the hell out of it now and just not worrying about losing it - now I may have to rethink this and not be so reckless with my locks!
Dina --straw braids anyone?
