Hi. I'm new to this but was so excited to see other people going thru the same thing I was that I had to reply. I have a surgery date of March 11, 2004. I have pre-op on March 3rd. Looking forward to it. I have been battling weight issues for 30 years. I am a diabetic also. Any words of encouragement for me out there????

Hi Delilah....your surgery is the day after mine....I wish you nothing but skinny thoughts!!!! On another note, my dad had this done last year and was a diabetic who who needed insulin regularly....to make along story short he is NO LONGER DIABETIC and off insulin completely. He is a new man 100% for the better. My mom, and sister also had this done and are doing wonderfully they are like new people aswell. So stay positive and you'll be shopping in the JR section before you know it!!!

Hi Delilah!!! We will be starting our new life on the same day! My surgery is scheduled for 1 p.m. My pre-op is 2/27. There are several people in my support group that I go to that USED to be diabetic but since the surgery they are not anymore!!! I have read that 95% of diabetics do not require any medications after this surgery. Definately something to look forward to. I am looking forward to losing the CPAP machine I have to sleep with every night. Oh to be able to sleep again without a noisy hose attached to my nose!!!! (Hey! It rhymes ) Not to mention all the cool clothes that I have always about because they only come in sizes under 12. We will soon be buying them!!! I will be saying prayers for all the March Eleveners on my two hour drive to the hospital!!! (11 angels for us March Eleveners) God Bless!!!!!!!!! Carrie
