I finally got approved on Monday 02/16/04. My surgery was originally scheduled for Friday 02/20/04 but I had taken some medicine and it was rescheduled for 03/04/04 because I had to wait 14 days until the medication was out of my system. Please keep me in your prayers and feel free to email me. I am so excited I have been counting down the days. Take care and God bless.

Hey you got lucky and I'm happy for you I had my consultation on 1/13/04. We had made a surgery date for 2/19/04 until I had a question about my birth control shot that I had received on 12/05/03. Dr. Wood said that I had to wait until it was out of my system so there wouldn't be any chances of me getting blood clots. He gave me a date for 3/15/04. So I had to wait two months and how aganizing that was. I only have 3 weeks to go and I see them coming fast I know it will be worth the wait. 302lbs/22days & counting

Why exactly would you have to wait until the shot was out of your system ?? I am due for a shot Feb 23 and will be having surgery March 2nd no one said anything to me about not getting my shot .

I know NSaids (aspirin, ketoprophin, etc.) should be stopped before surgery. Also anything that would cause your blood to thin. Perhaps other things... Joy

Hi Patricia I asked my doctor would the birth control shot have an effect on the surgery and he said that it may cause blood clots and that is why he preferred for it to be somewhat out of my system before I had the surgery. Think about it and make sure you ask your doctor before you get the shot and also ask your surgeon before you get it. Just to be on the safe side. We don't want to have your surgery delayed for any reason at all. This is what my surgeon said and he has been doing bariatric surgeries for over 25 years so who am I to question him when he is looking out for my health... You know what I mean??? I'm not saying that everybody is the same. 302lbs/22days & counting
